Sprint has been really stingy with not having plans with a lot of anytime minutes. T-Mobile has like 1000 anytime minutes for $35. Cingular has their "roll-over" minutes. What does Sprint have? Sprint = penny pinchers. Here is what they recently gave me:

OLD plan
250 anytime
1250 n/w 8pm
$34.99

NEW plan
400 anytime
2000 n/w 8pm
3-month free Vision service
$35

plus $75 service credit for a new phone (Samsung N400)
I had to agree to 2 year contract, to get a deal in the store on the phone.

The $75 credit was okay, but still Sprint's anytime minutes are low compared to other companies. 2year contract sucks for a phone I still had to pay $20 for. Sprint also hardly ever has phone deals for their existing customers. Vision service should be free and included with the plans too. And ringers should be free to download. I had to make my own MIDI ringers for my phone, because there was no way I was going to pay them $1-$2 for a stupid ringer or screensaver download. Sprint better get their act together and give people(including existing customers) rollover minutes or more anytime, or people will be telling them bye-bye!

Mr. Coyote, were you dealing with the cancellations department, or (as it appears) the store? If the latter, that explains why you got a mediocre deal.

My wife called to cancel her's today. The plan she got is:

360 anytime
4000 N&W starting at 8:00pm
$85 credit on new phone

for $30 per month

What are some good phones for around $100?

first of all, thanks to dannavs for the dropped call idea! I'm doing it now and don't feel guilty at all since I KNOW I've dropped way more than 20 calls in the past month!

Here's my plan in case anyone is interested, first one was my original retention plan, second one is my new retention plan (I wanted to save some money)

old: $35.99
500 anytime
3000 N+W @8pm
free LD

new: $30
300 anytime
3000 N+W @8pm
Unlimited PCS-PCS
free LD

old plan:
$34.99
250 anytime
1250 N&W
free long distance

new plan:
$29.99
480 anytime
unlimited N&W
unlimited PCS-PCS
$150 credit towards a new phone

I called and said I wanted to complain about dropped calls and poor reception. The lady said "so what do you want to do?" I said I wanted to cancel my service and told them that I have better offers from 2 different cellular companies, which was for 500 anytime for $30 with a free phone. The lady asked me who I was and said that the only person who can cancel service is the account holder (account holder is my mom). I say thanks and hang up

I call back right away and get another girl. She practically throws everything at me. "How would you like 300 anytime, unlimited nights and weekends, $150 credit for $30?"

I say "make it 400 anytime" and she made it 480. Then she asked me if there was anything else I wanted.. I asked about PCS-PCS, and she said "you're really pushing your luck, huh? " and I said "yeah"... she gave me unlimited PCS

Hardtech, do you still have free LD with your new plan? I presume so, but you don't list it, as you do with your old plan.

SprintPCS plans are really screwed up these days. They are charging some people less for more minutes, and some people more for less minutes.

Compare HardTech and duuuma plans to mine, and you will see some of us are getting unfair plans. I get NO pcs-to-pcs, less night/weekend, less anytime minutes, and I pay $5 more than Hardtech. Hardtech gets 80 more anytime minutes. Question: Although I already signed another 2 year contract, can I call back and re-negotiate my plan? Will they be able to change my plan yet again?

My old plan:
$34.99
250 anytime
1250 n/w 8pm
free LD

My new plan:
$35.00
400 anytime
2000 n/w 8pm
free LD
$75 service credit

I dunno, but how long have you been a SprintPCS member?

my nights and weekends start at 9, but I guess it all balances out with the increased anytime minutes.

I think it's kind of justified. I mean, people who have been with them longer should get better rates... but I hear ya. Sucks when you know people get better deals than you

How do I directly go to retentions? I am getting SCREWED on my plan. currently I have 350 daytime and 2000(n/w @ 8). I go over every month. Horrible. How would I go about getting the amazing deals you all are getting? Please inform me of how to go to retentions directly. Thanks.

I was wondering if any of you all had experience with the business retention department. I get a business discount so when I tried to call in today to cancel my plan (my year contract ends january 2nd) they told me that their business cancellation department will have to handle it and they're closed on Sundays. Does anyone one know how lenient they are with retention plans?

Thanks...

Go back through this thread and READ IT! I have posted before the direct number to the retention department, as well as advice a newbie like you prolly needs on how to deal with them.

If you are to dang lazy to do that - you can always use the button in the upper right corner of your screen and SEARCH.

It is amazing what you can do when you actually do something yourself rather than wait to get spoonfed by others...

Old Plan:
350 Anytime
3000 n/w @ 8
39.99/month

New Plan:
750 Anytime
3000 n/w @8
unlimited mobile to mobile
100 service credit.
39.99/month

I love the retentions dept. Supposedly if you are a new sprint customer, you need to stay with your original plan for at least 90 days before the retentions dept can offer one of the preferred plans. Not a bad deal at all. Thanks everyone.

Just called 1-866-762-0468 and talked to a friendly male CSR. I told him i was thinking of canceling and asked him what can he offer me? He asked me what i was looking for. I asked him what he could offer me for 30$ a month. He was mubmling something into the phone and then said 420 anytime, unlimited night and weekedn from 9 pm and 100 credit. I asked him about 8pm night minutes, and he said he could only do 3000 night minutes from 8 pm, so i agreed.

Bottom lime is:

30$ a month

420 anytime minutes
3000 night and weekend start at 8 pm
100$ Credit for a new phone
Free long distance

Not bad Thanx all

The cool thing is, sprint has up to a 100$ instant savings on a lot of phones, so I can order one of those for like 30-50$ and activation fee won't be charged since i'm just switching phones for teh same number. So taht leaves me with 70$-50$ credit balance

I would also like to know how you make sure your get more anytime minutes than the original plan has.
Cause the guy told me 420, but i called back in 15 minutes, and it lists 300 in the computer. So i wonder if that will change after the 1st billing cycle? Will the changes be listed online? Those of you who got this deal a few montsh ago, care to share your experiences?

Just to let you know, my plan is through the business department also ( I used it for a discount 3 years ago when I first got with sprint). When I call for the retention department, I think I talk to the same retention people by saying 'disconnect service' or something along those lines to Claire. They only difference is, when they pull up my account, there might be restrictions to the business account that doesn't let them give us as much.

I think this is the case b/c once before, my retention service rep tried to give me unlimited pcs-pcs but the system wouldn't let him. Another retention service rep before him tried to give me the $34.99 for 600 anytime minutes deal but couldn't. That's how I ended up with 500 anytime minutes for $35.99.

Sprint customer for 1.5 years, been off contract for half a year. Called 866.762.0468, got a friendly rep the first try. I think they're going to a standard retention plan, cause mine looks a lot like some of the recent ones I see in this thread.

OLD:
350 anytime
2150 n&w (8PM)
$39.99 per month

NEW:
480 anytime
3000 n&w (8PM)
$100 service credit
1 year contract
$30 per month

Got the feeling I could have gotten more (like PCS-PCS) if I held out a little longer, but don't really need it. Now to figure out what phone to get...leaning toward the A500.

Thanks for your help everyone!

Just called retentions today, I think I really worked a great deal.

Old:
Line 1:
Samsung N300
600 anytime
4000 N/W
$59.00

Line 2:
Samsung N300
200 anytime
2000 n/w
$29.00

New:
Line1:
Sanyo 4900 (FREE)
600 anytime
unlimited n/w
Vision plan
Free pcs2pcs
$45.00

Line2:
Kyocera 2345 (FREE)
300 anytime
Unlimited n/w
Free pc2pc2
$19.99

Plus three months free!
I got both new phones free! Thats $249.00 in phones alone, and a good little chunk of change saved.
They offered me a 1000 anytime and ulimited n/w for $49.99, but that did not have the vision plan on it.. and I wanted vision plan.

I approced this saying I have been a customer for awhile, I got the phone for the GPS emergency service which has never been activated anywhere... Then I told them I get bad reception, and I don't feel that I am getting my value per dollar anymore. She imediantly offered me the standard 750 for $49.99.. but staying VERY nice, stating that theres even a company that offers unlimited anytime minutes... but its VERY expensive, she jacked it up to 1000 anytime.... I went over ALL the plans with her... acting very positive, and slightly stupid like she leading me..
Then I told her my phone is just not adiquate. It gets bad recption, and the buttons stick. She asked what phone I wanted... I told her I don't want this phone, and she started to go thru the models. I stopped her at the 4900 and said I liked it. I asked her what she could work me for that phone with the vision plan, and no out of pocket money. She said 500 anytime, and $100 off phone. I asked whats the next best plan.. thats 800 anytime at $69.00.. I told her thats too much, I need at least as many as I had before... so she did the 500 minutes plan ($44.99) and added 100 minutes free ;-P
Then she gave me the extra $50.00 for the phone...
Then I moved on to the lower line, which is a backup line (my primary is my ONLY phone line.. I do not have a land line) for my roomate for emergencies, and talking to famiy.. She flat out offered the 100 extra minutes at $10 chaper a month. I accepted, and then asked what she could do about that phone, which Is not good enough. She said she could do the $100 for the keocera. Boom.. done, I accepted, VERY happy with how she worked her butt off getting it all done.

Btw.. I got three months free service, and if I decide NOT to use the credits for phones on new phones, they will roll over onto my account as paid credit.. (I might keep the line 2 Samsung N300 and get my months bill pad for easy with that )
I attribute getting great deal with being VERY nice to her, and all the while quoting what other companies had (free phones, large/unlimited minutes).

I have been a PCS customer for over 4 years now and I called and got the 750 anytime with 3000 n&w, unlimited pcs to pcs, first incoming minute, 150 service credit for 40 a month

I called with my brother's phone (3 years) and tried the same thing but they wouldn't offer him much of anything because last year he called about a stupid problem where they billed him the $150 cancellation fee plus $0.40 a minute for over 1200 minutes he used (they though he canceled his plan so they charged him for every single minute when he just upgraded his plan). The CSR's didn't give a damn about his problem and wouldn't change it (until he talked to the manager of the manager of the manager....). He swore at one of the CSR's and the CSR said that he would 'flag' his account if he kept swearing

We were both out of contract and I got a better deal, but he got the 480 for 35... not bad
