got similar here, too.

500 (8-7), 3000 off peak, $50 credit and a free month service (so, $85 credit) for $35/mo.

I called up now that my 1 year contract is over and was offered:

500 anytime minutes
2150 Night/weekend minutes starting at 8pm
1st incoming minute free
for $39.99/month
1 month free, no activation on a new phone (no credit for a new phone though!!)

I told him I'd think about it and he wrote it down in my file! What should I do to get a better plan?

Thanks boys and girls, this worked out great for me. I was paying over $100 for two lines, now I have plenty more minutes, 8:00 N&W, plus $200 in phone credit, all for < $65!

LiQiCE That seems like a good plan....maybe you should ask for stock options, or a VP position in the company, or maybe the Trench Coated spokeman as a personal servant.

Ok, the deal I got is below. It includes a $70 credit for a phone. I currently have the Samsung 6100. I like how tiny it is. Does anyone have a recommendation for a new phone for me to get? I really don't want to blow a ton of money, so if there's one out there that's comparable to mine but not too expensive, I'd love to know.

500 days
2500 nights/weekends
500 pcs to pcs
first month free
$70 phone credit
one year agreement
$35.99 per month

(i was paying $49.99 for 450 days, 2500 nights/weekends only)

Now I just need a hot deal to use these $200 phone credits on. Anyone got any of the newer color Sprint phones? Will the Vision phones work with old service plans?

What do you all think?

500 Any time 3000 N/W starting at 8 PM $35.99

Plus a $70 dollar credit towards a new phone.

This is pretty cool, specially since my contract is up this month.

Wade,

Well considering people are getting more minutes than I am for less per month *AND* they are getting a phone credit, I think it is only fair to attempt to get an equivalent package. If Sprint seriously doesnt want to work with me, then I have every intention of switching to another carrier such as Verizon. However, if they can make me happy, I'll stay with Sprint.

Sprint PCS are weasels. i will never go with them. My sister was with the for a year and she doesn't know much about tech so i had to step in. She was paying 34.99 for 250 any time i believe. Most normal humans need more than 250 anytime. Her phone was crap too and Sprint PCS always has the most $$ phones. Yeah they're pimp, but there are pimp phones that other companies offer too.

In any case, for the value minded consumer they aren't good.

okay, so i try to get her on Voicestream, my company of choice, and she gets in on that AMAZING Amazon deal. She gets the Motorola V60 phone, new, shipped free, after MIR, one year contract with VS, and 600 anytimes for 40 bucks. But before all this she had to cancel with sprint. They wouldn't let her cancel. The CSR told her, "I can't cancel you." My sister was "Uh.. come again." Mind you, my sister is an assistant D.A. for our county. They messed with the wrong person. Anyways, they told her she will have to drive to the sprint pcs store, there she bitched at them and finally cancelled the contract. She was connected with VS in a matter of minutes and said she called and the VS CSR's were much friendlier.
I can vouch for this. Any time i call VS, i get connected to a CSR under a minute. And they are pleasant people.

Sprint PCS and they're god damn retention policy. Why don't they offer competitive rates to begin with! Hey, now thats a good idea? I mean most companies these days offer SOMETHING to bring people in, VS with their 3000 anytimes and GSM and sim for us international travellers 50 bucks a month, i know Cingular is now going to do the rollover minutes, excellent idea, good value for those that use some months more than others... but Sprint? Those POS dont' do anything. They talk about 3G all day but haven't had it yet. And you really can't get a good phone for free (or cheap) with them, so thats 200 more to spend.

I notice Sprint has a $50 rebate going on a bunch of phones, including the one I want. Anyone know if we get to claim this rebate in addition to the (in my case) $70 credit we'll be getting?

nikko,

I believe the $50 rebate is only good for new SprintPCS customers, so its probably a no-go for you, and the rest of us existing customers.

So like they say YMMV.

god damnit people read the website it says:

"Rebate and qualification terms based on credit history. Offer available for new and existing customers adding a new line of service. This special offer ends August 31, 2002. Free shipping included!"

so if you do get credit from the CSR you also get $50 more from a MIR.

I don't know what phone to get now, any recommendations?

dam()

edit: doh! i missed the "adding a new line of service" so yeah existing customers are SOL, since you will not be adding a new line.

Anyone know exactly how these phone credits work? Are they simply cash credited to your monthly billing statement, or are they specifically for phone purchases made directly from Sprint (at outrageous prices I might add...) ?

sprint isn't the greatest, but VOICESTREAM? please. their service area is limited and if you're outside their area, you get NO service. NONE! nada. zero. zilch. at least with the other major carriers you can connect on someone else's network and pay a little $$ if you really need to get a call thru. if they ever get decent service areas, it might be a decent deal, but i live in the DC area and there are lots of holes in their service. doesn't help to have anytime minutes when you can't get a connection.

oh, and btw, they only have free weekends, not free nights and weekends.

I think I'm getting boned. I pay $34.99 for 200/3300 with SprintPCS. I use this as my only phone (cancelled my landline) and I need as much time as possible for as little as possible.

I NEED A BETTER DEAL!

I just got 500 anytime minutes from 8:00pm

35.99$ per month.

but I did not got one free month, 70$ credit. I thought I accepted too early and did not insist cancelling.

anyway, I improved my plan a little.

Went into the Sprint store the other day because I was looking to cancel my ATT plan. The rep gave me 2 free phones (Sanyo 4700 and an LG 4ne1) with 3000 N/W, 650 anytime and 500 PCS to PCS PER Phone. She put each on a seperate plan because she said I could get more minutes that way instead of sharing them. Also included the free 3 months of wireless web. After my military discount and USAA discount I am paying total including taxes $69.00 a month. Seemed like a good deal so I took it.

Just a heads up, BB (B&M) is having a $50 dollar MIR on their sprint phones, however I do not know if you can use the credit that sprint is giving you and apply it towards it.

Ok, just and FYI.

How does SprintPCS compare to Cingular or T-Mobile in the Bay Area... I'm thinking about getting a new service within a month or so... Any suggestions or tips would be helpful. Thanks...
