Wow the new plans look good.

Better than the retention plan they were offering me a couple of weeks ago.

They could not offer the add-a-phone with shared minutes on the retention plan and instead were giving me two plans for $35 each phone with 3 or 4 hundred minutes (they did not offer me 500), 500 minutes PCS to PCS and 2500 N+W minutes

The new plans offer unlimited PCS to PCS (free w. two year plan), unlimited night and weekend, $20 to add a phone and $45 for 500 shared minutes. So $65 per month for my two phones.

Would have had a hair more any-time minutes with the retention plan but that is more than made up to with the free PCS to PCS as a lot of our calls are cell-phone to cell-phone during the day.

Nice thing with the add-a-phone is it is only $10 for unlimited vision if you have one or two phones so figure $5 per phone.

Now if I could only figure if vision is worth the $5 per month. I can't get used to typing on a phone but loved my blackberry when I had one so I could see myself using the vission like crazy if I had the Treo.

But it looks like the cheap unlimited vision only applies to the phone not the PDAs

Does anyone know if the unlimited vision applys to the Handspring Treo? Or does that come under their computer/pda plan that is like $100 for unlimited vision?

THANKS!

I just got the following:

1000 Anytime
4000 Night and Weekends starting at 8pm
$50/mo.

No credits but she did give me an extra 150 minutes for the month I was on as I was already over my previous 450 anytime minute limit so I consider that a credit! I would have loved an extra $100 credit so I could get a new color phone but I honestly have had no problems with my A400. It is an awesome and reliable phone. But oooh, that A500! *drools*

has anyone been able to quit Sprint and not have to pay the last billing period in full? My billing period just reset, and I want to quit because I just bought a new phone and don't want to pay for 2 phones. I didn't recall anything about a 1-mt. notice for cancellation, just the 1 yr. contract fulfillment. Please help!

According to the handspring web site the "unlimited vission" plans do apply to the treo.

Here's what I got for a retention plan tonight. I hope it's a good deal.

What we had:
$59.99 for phone #1 (started 2000)
$15.00 for phone #2 (started 1998)
$15.00 for phone #3 (started 2001)
500 anytime, shared
2000 nights and weekends starting at 8p, shared
wireless web for each phone
500 pcs-to-pcs for each phone
total=$89.99/mo

What I got for retention:
standard $85 Vision plan
2000 anytime, shared
unlimited pcs-to-pcs
phone #2 included
$20 for phone #3
retention bonus:
$150 service credit for new phone for #1
$150 service credit for new phone for #2
$80 service credit for new phone for #3
3000 nights and weekends, starting at 8p, shared, no charge

I agreed to another 1-year contract.

So I'm paying a few bucks more, but we get Vision, a lot more minutes and basically three free new phones for sticking with Sprint. I suppose we could forego the new phones and get about four months service for free but everyone needs new phones, so there you go.

I broke each phone out because the service rep told me that their system assigns a "value" to each phone number on an account. #1 got a high value because it is the master number and gets the bill, #2 because we started service on that number 4 years ago. #3 was lower apparently because it's newer and has less billing liability.

Did some bargaining with retention. She put a few offers on the table for me but refused to give any kind of credit or free month (because earlier this month they already gave me a $100 courtesy credit for going over my minutes and being a good customer

They gave me 3 offers with a 1 year contract.

$30 300/2000 8pm
$35 400/2000 8pm
$40 750/3000 8pm

My current plan: $35 250/1250 8pm. So I can pay less per month AND get more minutes

I would like to get some more goodies from them, so I'll go to Verizon and AT&T and then ask sprint to match those offers if they can

Contract running out in 3 weeks for the following plan:

1k any time
3k (I think) n&w (starting at 8)
500 pcs-pcs - $74.99
$20 to share between 2 phones
$5 for wireless web
for a total of $99.99

They are offering

2k any time
unlimited n& w (starting at 9)
unlimited pcs-pcs
shared between 2 phones
first incoming minute free
1 year contract
for a total of $85
$150 credit for new phone

We can get this with Vision, or pay $5 extra to get wireless web.

I picked up one of the free Wireless Web links from Handspring, and REALLY like the e-mail flexibility - beats the hell out of my Samsung N200 (now lost) and iPaq combination. Only bad thing is that we will be charged air time for using wireless web, but don't feel like spending the bucks for a Treo.

What is the recommended least number of months on Sprint to have a good chance with retention?

How does the credit work? As part of my retention plan, they offered me $150 of credit towards a new phone. The CSR explained to me that the $150 will be credited to my account, but how will I know that? I haven't seen any credits being credited to my account except for the 1 month free credit. Could I use this excuse to get out of the 1 year contract without penalty since they didn't hold up to their end of the bargain? It's just that I want to switch over to another carrier now.

2000 N&W (8pm)
1 year contract
$49.99 / month
+ $10 unlimited Vision for my Treo

Yes, like many said....be nice to the reps. However, be firm. Some have simply said they would think about the offer...good idea. It worked for me.

Here is what is possible from my personal experience...however, YMMV. Copied directly from my sprint account:

MINUTES IN PLAN 1300
OFF-PEAK OPTION 3000
FIRST INCOMING MINUTE FREE UNLIMITED
SPRINT PCS TO PCS CALLING MINUTES 500

PRICE: $50.00

Yes, my N/W starts at 8:00 pm

I did the whole retention thing almost 6 months ago. So I didn't really push for phone credit as the deal was pretty good already at the time. At first they only offered 1000 anytime min so I told them I will think about it. When I called back, I talked to another rep and explained to them again that I need more min. since nextel was giving away unlimited incoming. So they finally agreed for another 150...however, their system didn't have 150 additional anytime minute option and thus I ended up getting 300 anytime instead. Oh, that whole thing about 1st incoming not being avail is bull...they added it into my plan when I went through retention.

The lesson I learned is never upgrade a plan but rather call them and they will customize your plan.

I have been a custormer for atleast 3 years.

My experience with Sprint PCS...

I have been a customer of theirs since mid 1998 - all plans up until now have been for a single phone. My wife and I are expecting a little one in January and decided we both needed cell phones. I investigated other plans and there are what appear to be better plans out there. However, after reading the retention deals in this forum I decided to roll the dice and call retention to see what I could negotiate. I did not know what to expect, but the representative I spoke with wasted no time. She asked what plans I was considering and what I was looking for. I told her I wanted 2 phone lines and service credits for all of the dropped calls and connection problems I had been experiencing. This is what they offered:

400 anytime minutes + an additional 300 anytime minutes = 700 minutes
4000 nights and weekends starting at 8:00PM
Unlimited PCS to PCS minutes
$115 service credit + $75 service credit = $190.00 service credit
1 month free service at $59.00

Total cost?
- $39.00 + $20.00 for the second line = $59.00/month +taxes.

They also knocked $100.00 off of a $149.00 Samsung phone that was actived for the second line.
Then they knocked another $20.00 for swithcing our residential long distance to Sprint.
Finally, they knocked an aditional $50.00 off of a $149.00 LG phone I bought to replace my 4 year old Samsung 3500.

We picked up 2 separate $149.00 phones for a combined total of $128.00 + taxes.

Yes - I am very happy with this deal and Sprint in general...

The preferred method is to call customer service via 'Claire' by pressing *2 on your cell phone.

You can cheat and go direct using this...866-762-0468

NOTE: do not call it 'RETENTION' they do not like that!

I called sprint last week and got the following deal for $40/month:

750 anytime
3000 n/w
500 pcs to pcs
1st incoming minute free (added today)
1 free month
$70 phone credit

I called back today asking about different retention plans offered to me last time ($30 and $35 plans)
but its seems as if sprint has changed their retention plans prob due to the overwhelming number of callers lately.. (ahem) who knows the truth to this???

if anyone of you have figured out a way to get a higher phone credit get back to me.

When I called it went straight through. I just called a minute ago and it said all operators were busy and that my wait would be brief. JUst wait for an operator to come on the line and you are golden.

spiderman919
They just chenged the retention plans starting on October 25th - or so I was told.
As for getting higher phone credits, what they offered you is pretty dang good.
Sprint does not give 'phone credits' per se, unless you are a new customer, buying a new phone, and activating a new line.
They will give 'service credits' if you bitch and moan enough about how many dropped calls you have been getting and threaten to switch to another carrier.

As always, YMMV!
