Tell them you need a few days to close your contacts up and notify them of your new number, and you'll call them back later.

I just called, I have had sprint for about 3.5 years:

I previosuly had
180 anytime
300 N/W
No contract
1st incoming free
29.99

They offered: and I took

300 anytime
2000 N/W
No contract
1st incoming free
500 pcs to pcs
Wireless web taken from regular minutes ( my last bill tripled becasue I now use my laptop to my phone and was getting bannged per minute)
extra 350 courtesy mins for the next 3 months
my previous wireless web minutes erased for this month
3 months free Wireless web

34.99/month

Im happy, I never went over my 180 daytime mins anyway so 300 is more then adeqaute. What I really wanted was plenty of N/W wireless web minutes which I now have.

Thanks

Last month I called, telling them about how I was getting tired of my dropped calls, I wanted a better phone and I wanted a motorola, and that I saw better plans for the same amount, all of this was true. This what I had:

500 anytime
1500 n&w starting at 8pm
for $49.99 - 25% discount from work

After I called, they gave me:
1000 anytime
3000 n&w starting at 8pm
$70 credit for a new phone
plus 100 courtesy minutes for the current month since I was already way over
for the same price of $49.99 - 25% discount from work

I'm so much happier now, because I have a lot more minutes (though I did have plenty before, now I can really talk a lot) and with my new phone, the Sanyo SCH-5150, I have MUCH better reception, now I realize how crappy of a signal my other phone had (Samsung 8500). I can use my phone almost anywhere now, especially in many places that my other phone didn't work like in the middle of my house and the center of building... my new phone even works in elevators many times :-O. You ge the credit once you connect the new phone. I had already bought the phone slightly used of e-bay for much cheaper and connected it like 1 hour after I got the better plan and they immediately credited my account. I realize other people have gotten better deals, but I'm happy with that I have, I'm not sure how much I talk to people on PCS phones. Oh and somebody made a comment about how voicestream has better plans, no way, they only have weekend minutes, and sprint has night & weekend minutes. To me they are really good here in the NYC area, even in other places. My phone worked the whole way down to South Carolina, and I also got a call while I was vacationing in the Dominican Republic . If you are looking to buy a new phone I've heard that Sanyo's have much better reception than Samsung's and I can vouch for that... I also heard the Sanyo 4700 has the best signal of all. Oh one other thing, I've been a customer for more than 2 years, and they made me sign a new one-year contract, but that's ok, this is a really good plan.

Can you define 3rd party employee? I get a volume discount through my company, would that somehow make me eligable? Thanks.

The credit just shows up in your account. Go buy your new phone using your own money. With a $70 credit, your first month will be paid, and you'll have a few bucks left to pay on your second month.

How do you guys get these retention deals with SprintPCS? After staying with them for 2 years in their 250 any time + 2500 N/W for $34.99, I just talked their retention dept to get a good deal. All they gave me are
1) 500 any time, 3000 N/W starting at 8 pm , Long distance for $34.99 with 1yr contract.
Or
2) 300 any time, 3000 N/W starting at 8 pm, Long distance for $30 with 1yr contract.

I hate this 1 year contract. I wish they could give deal (2) without a contract.

Hows this one....

I had to upgrade my plane to do the add a phone option... the minimum plane with that option was 49.99 500 anytime and 4500 nights/weekends... well no oen ever told me that I was going to lose my first incomming minute free and my nights were going to move from 9pm to 8pm.... well I found out after I switched amd couldn't go back so I freaked out... this is what they gave me....

an aditional 400 anytime minutes = 900 anytime

first incoming munute free (this is huge)

free wireless web....

also the guy upgraded my phone from a Samsung N-200 to a Sayno 5150 for free...

now I still pay 49.99 but the first incoming minute free is like another 500 minutes a month anyway

I've bee a customer for about 3 years now ....but I think this is a pretty good deal...

Have any of you looked online at your accoutns on the SprintPCS site to see your retention plans?

I won't know if I really have all the options they told me they'd given me until my bill comes.
My night/weekend minutes show up as 9-7 on the "My Plan" summary at their site.
Also, I don't see first incoming minute free. Is this consistent with you too (not seeing every aspect of your retention plan), or should I call in to make sure I really have these additions on my plan?

It will not reflect your retention plan online until the start of your next billing cycle. They should have given you that date, sometimes up to 30 days from you re-subscribing.

Sorry, I might not have been clear.

My retention plan is now active. On the "My Plan" view within the sprint pcs site, the plan does not show what the retention plan representative verbally told me. It does not show first incoming minute free, and does not show nights and weekends starting at 8 PM. Is this what others see too?

I called and here's what I got:

$35/mo
500 anytime
2500? N&W
500 PCS/PCS
1 yr contract (not additional)

1 free month service
$100 service credit.

Here's what happened.
First I called and got the plan, and the 1 free month of new service plan, and a $30 credit. THEN when she sent me to the automated contract agreement system, I hung up!!
Then, I called back and said I want to cancel my service, got a new rep, and told her that other companies were offering free phone to sign up, and she offered to bump the $30 credit up to $100, and I agreed. Here's the thing, though. I never agreed to the contract! So I wonder how that's going to work... according to the 2nd CSR, the plan was already put into effect. I guess I got lucky, or I'll find out what really happened later. I don't think they can put the contract on you unless you agree to it though!

On the initial call to get a better plan, I used: not happy with my service, not enough daytime minutes for my preference, T-Mobile has a $39/600 anytime plan (you can spit that out and they'll offer you the $35/500/2500/500 plan-- I think it's a staple retention plan).
As for the credits, I told her the following: my balances were ridiculuous, the overage is too much, and other companies are offering a free phone for signing up for service. They should offer you either some amount of free service (IE 1 mo. free) and a service credit. I'm not sure how much over $100 they're willing to go... that seemed to be the limit for my CSR. But hit 'em with everything you got, and you'll definitely get the better plan and some amount of credit.

Good luck!

OLD plan:

$75 - 25% corporate discount
1000 Anytime
2000 N/W after 8 pm
1 year Contract
Free Long Distance

Here's the deal I got:

$39.99 - 25% corporate discount...

500 Anytime
2000 N/W after 8pm
3600 N/W after 9pm
Free Long Distance
1 year contract
Free Long Distance

CSR never offered 1 month free service or phone credit. Not as good a deal as most of you all got but since my previous plan was $75 and I never used anywhere close to my allocated anytime minutes, I'm quite happy saving all that money

my rep said they haven't had first incoming minute free for the last 2-3 years...and there were no plans with no contract.
i've been with them for 2+ years and out of contract since july.

I think some of you are full of it, when you say you are getting all of those extras.

My current plan:
$34.95
250 anytime
1250 n/w after 8pm

I called a week ago and was only offered 200 additional anytime minutes. I denied it and told them I'll think about it. I called yesterday again, and was only offered the same damn thing. My phone is over 2 years old and has problems with the earpiece (Samsung 3500). I told them this, and they said it wasn't in warrenty anymore and couldn't do nothing about. CSR only could offer 200 more minutes. They didn't offer me anything else. How are you people getting this stuff? Are you being rude and nasty to the CSR?

You just have to be nice to the CSR. This works for customers with a long history with Sprint...for instance, I got

500 Day
3000 NW
3 months wireless web
1st month free
$150 Service credit

and a FREE samsung a460 phone...

not bad eh?

It seems like Sprint has kinda low day time minutes. I was on USCell with $40 for 1100 daytime and free nights and weekends for $5. I am switching to SunCom who have unlimited 24/7 in home area (4 counties and their towers) and the kicker is 300 minutes anywhere in the USA and .20 extra above the 300. I use to cut my cell off when I traveled to Fla or NY....Now I can get the calls. I will lose my second analog car phone....no one but USCell uses them. Oh I will get a $35 for referrals... the referral also gets the $35. Also free cheap phone.

Sprint can bite me. If there's a company that does less than Sprint to satisfy customers, I can't think of it. The moment my 1-year contract is up, I'm out. What do people think of Cingular, AT&T, Voicestream or Verizon wireless? What about T-mobile?

I said the same thing and agree about the customer service. The problem for me was none of the other companies were very good in the Bay Area and none of them could beat Sprints rates. The good news is how often do you really need to contact Sprints Customer Service, at least thats the way I looked at it.

At&t has far better coverage in the bay area compared to anyone except maybe verizion who has probably about the same coverage.
This deal everyone is talking about sounds pretty week, especially if you can't get it because you haven't been with them long enough. With At&t you can change your plan anytime and you can always take advantage of any current plan promotions!

At&t's current promotions include:

National netowork $34.99(basically it gives you no roaming charges where At&t has owened and operated towers, basically the major cities)
500 anytime minutes (6am-9pm)
unlimited nights and weekends w/2yr and again you are agreeing to service not the paln so you can change that anytime (3000 n/w for 1yr)
either 500 local M2M (basically any At&t wireless user in your home area) or 250 national M2M (any at&t wireless user) if you choose the 1 yr you don't get these options
No long distance charges

Digital advantage $39.99 (depends on where you are at but for california it means no roaming while in CA or parts of Nevada like Reno and Las Vegas, no roaming in parts of Arizona (mostly the major cities) and no roaming in Hawaii
600 anytime (6am-9pm)
unlimited nights and weekends w/2yr or 3000 with 1yr
either 500 local M2M (see above for explanation) or free nationwide long distance (these are available when you do a two yr contract extension)

All that and At&t was rated #1 according to JD Powers.

As far as the other companies go;

People in the bay area hate cingular, they just don't have the coverage and their customer service sucks! T-mobile uses cingulars network so the service is the same however they have better plans and I've heard they have better customer service (voicestream is T-mobile).
Verizon isn't bad as far as service and their customer service is ok.

If you want all the bells and whistles GSM/GPRS have to offer then just wait till At&t launch their GSM network and no it doesn't use anyone elses towers!

Just called heres what happened

cancelled service
they asked what was wrong
said dropped calls, roaming in covered areas, and other companies have more aggresive plans
they then asked if i would stay if they gave a better deal
I said i would listhen
they offered an extra 100 anytime minutes to my plan which was 400 anytime 2250 n&w starting at 9 for 35
I said that I am at the 500 mark as it is and that I need more per month
They then offered 700 anytime minutes 2000 nights and weekend minutes starting at 8 for 40
I said sign me up!
But asked for it to start now becuase i was at my limit
she said hold on, then told me she would add 60 extra minutes this month and the deal would start at the bill date.

So heres what I ended up with
700 anytime
2000 N&W starting at 8
extra 60 min to current month
all for $40

not to bad i guess since i was starting to go over my 400 anytime before. Sound good to you guys?

heres a big tip! Be nice to them dont make fun of their company just state that you feel you need better deals and service for what you are paying. If the person is nice they will work with you to fit your needs.

Our 1 yr Sprint contract expires next month, and since my GF and I have the shared minutes plan w/ add-a-phone, I had her call them up to renegotiate our deal.

After 30min of negotiations we agreed to another 1 yr contract w/ the following details:

(2 phone deal w/ shared minutes)
800 anytime min
7500 nights and weekends
8pm switchover
500 pcs to pcs
1st incoming minute free
50.00 phone upgrade credit
1 free month of service
we also have the insurance @ 4.00 per phone

69.99 per month + taxes

Reading the other replies in this thread I think we came out pretty good. Thanks to everyone for sharing their details.

1. Is it true if you extend your contract by two years you get a $150 -200 credit?

2. I used to have 300 anytime bonus min. It was taken off when i switch plans and now they say the system wont accept it.. Is this true?
