Wow! Some great deals. I got mine last Friday. Here's the plan:

They changed my plan to:
$40/mo
750 anytime minutes
3000 Night and Weekend minutes, starting at 8PM (I could have opted for Unlimited starting at 9pm, but I don't think I'll use all 3000)
Free Long Distance
Unlimited PCS to PCS calling
$150 credit on my bill (supposedly my bill will be 0 for the next 3 months and a smaller bill on the 4th month - totalling to $150)
Genius me just spent $150 on a Sanyo 4900. If there are no Sprint stores near you (West Lafayette, IN in my case) make sure that the credit comes off your monthly bill, so you get the money still (over a period of a few months), although you have to shell out for a new phone, if you want one).
If you go to Radio Shack to get a new phone, check the box before you leave! I didn't, because I trusted that paying full price for a phone would warrant me a new one - but no, I had a returned one. They apologized and gave me a new one right away. Just a minor annoyance.

EDIT!
Almost forgot!
If you have dropped calls, you can get up to $10/month back from Sprint by dialing *2, when Claire answers, reply with "Credit dropped call," and she will credit you with one minute of airtime at the highest rate (50 cents currently).
After she credits you, just hit 9, and repeat. The CSR I talked to said she does this every month on her own phone.

Thanks to everyone posting their plans!

They seem to have made some changes in the way their retention plans are handled.

OLD
$29.99/mo
200 Anytime
2800 N+W @ 9

NEW
$29.99/mo
480 Anytime
3000 N+W @8
Unlimited PCS to PCS
First Incoming Min Free
1 month free

In talking to the reps, I gather that any plan now can have the unlimited PCS to PCS calling and any plan can have unlimited N+W @9 OR 3000 N+W @8. They were hesitant to give me any more credits because I have gotten about $150 over the past year from just calling up and complaining without changing my plan or contract. I had to sign a new contract but I'm ok with that. My lady was very accomodating and was willing to try to match any plan I could find from another provider to keep my service.

I just noticed that even at NIGHT, the PCS to PCS minutes are used instead of night minutes! Not what I would call good. I would definitely want all calls at night to be counted in night minutes, even thought it may be PCS to PCS.

Are PCS to PCS supposed to be counted at night instead of night minutes? I'd rather have PCS only be counted during the daytime.

Sadly, PCS-to-PCS minutes are indeed the first to be consumed whenever possible. So if you tend to run out of them, it's best to call your PCS friends on their PCS during the day, and their regular phones if possible in the evenings and on weekends.

Of course, that's why the unlimited PCS-to-PCS is such an attractive option--such calls then no longer ever have any impact on your anytime or N&W minutes.

i just finished talking to Sprint and got me a great deal!!

Original Plan (Shared between 2 phones):
500 Anytime
4500 N/W
500 PCS to PCS
Two Phones share minutes
The total came out to $80 + TAX

But after 30 minutes of talking, here is my new plan for each phone:

No more sharing minutes
750 Anytime
3000 N/W starting at 8PM
Unlimited PCS to PCS
The new total came out to $40 + TAX on each phone

So im paying the same amount of $$$ but getting more minutes!!!

And I get next months bill credit

Im now happy!!

Hi, I just wanted to ask a few questions about the Sprint deal you got:

What number did you call or whatdid you say to Claire to ensure you went to the right people?

And what exactly did you tell the service rep. to get the deal that you did?

Thanks alot.

if you say "cancel service" you will get right through. I am going to call and cancel (for real!) because amazon has some really sweet deals on phones...the only way sprint is going to keep me is if they give me the Samsung A500 and Vision for free!

When I called, I said to Claire "I want to cancel my service". Apparently it does not take you straight to cancellations anymore. There is an 800 number somewhere that will take you straight to cancellations. Claire took me to a standard customer service rep at first. I told them that I wanted to cancel my plan because I was going to switch to another company because they had a better deal. They asked what the deal was and I told them. The customer service rep tried to offer me their standard plans and had no flexibility to offer a better deal. I pushed and told them I wanted to cancel. Then I got passed on to the retentions dept. The CSR told the retention person about my case before I spoke with them. Then they asked about the deal and offered me a not-so-good deal to get me to stay. I said I was not too excited and I would think about it.

I called back again and repeated the same story with two new people. This CSR did not take as long to pass me to retention and the retention person I got was much more willing to make a deal. They will look at your usage patterns and your time with the company when considering the deal to offer you. One of the questions I got was why do I want more minutes if I don't always use the ones I have and I explained to them that I am not having a regular phone line anymore, just a cell phone.
If you want another option, you can ask about it. For example, first minute free was not offered to me. I asked the second retention person if they still had it and she said she would give it to me. As has been said before, try to not be angry or rude. Be calm and polite but firm. Have an idea in your head of what you want before you call them by looking at what other people got.

Good luck!

i finally got a plan i'm happy with. i tried with the retention a few weeks ago, but they didn't offer me anything worthwhile. i tried again today, but had to go through 3 reps, because i kept getting dropped. the rep initially offered the $40 plan everyone's been getting with 750 anytime mins, etc....but i told him i didn't need as many mins, so he offered the 450 anytime mins for $30/month. i asked about the pcs to pcs, so he threw in unlimited. i then asked about the 1st incoming min free, but he said that hasn't been around for 3-4 years (same lame excuse i got a few weeks ago). i also told him that other companies are offering a free phone for signing up, so he said he can give me a $100 credit if i go with a 1 year contract, or $150 credit if i go with a 2 year contract. i finally told him if he threw in 1st incoming min free, i'll stay with sprint. so i ended up with:
450 anytime
3000 n/w @ 8pm
unlimited pcs to pcs
no long distance
1st incoming min free
$100 credit
1 year contract
all for $29 a month

i originally had: (don't laugh)
250 anytime
1250 n/w @ 8pm
for $45 a month. (which came out to ~ $55/month after tax!)

i've been with sprint for 2 years and out of contract for about 4-5 months. he also said if i wanted pcs vision if i get a new phone that supports it, i could get 3 months free and $10/month after that. i would have to call back after i get a new phone if i want that.

I got a new plan but Sprint was tough. They wouldn't give me the deal that I wanted 600 Anytime and 3000@pm for $30.

I called 5 times and this was the best deal I could get:

New:
$35
400 Any
3000 @8pm
Unlimited PCS to PCS
$60 Service Credit

Old:
200 Any
2000 @9pm
$29.99

If anyone could give me some pointers on how to get a better deal, it would be greatly appreciated.

you can actually mention some other companies (att, tmobile, etc...) that are giving free phones ($300 value) after rebates. That helped give me $100 credit instead of the usual $70. plus, start complaining about dropped calls and such.

Like a post above, I have only kept Sprint b/c of the 25% discount. But sometimes that's not even worth it. For example,
my daughter just turned down their offer of:

2000 anytime
4000 n/w (begins at 8pm)
1000 pcs-pcs
for $79.99 (which is $59.99 for us w/discount)

Why? B/c Sprint has been nothing but a nightmare for us, and she just wanted to kill the beast and be done with them once and for all.
I'm about to cancel my other line with them, but just haven't decided if I want to keep them even if they offer a fantastic deal. Yes, they suck that bad.

After my successful bargainning with SprintPCS two weeks ago, I convinced my family member to renegotiate their plan. Here is what I was offered:

$30 per month
360 Anytime
3000 Nights/Weekend starts 8PM
unlimited PCS to PCS
$150 credit towards purchase of new PCS phone

Not too bad, but not fantastic either. Somehow I get the feeling that Sprint is tightening their retention plan; since I had to make two three calls to get this deal and the person I talked to won't give me more anytime minutes.

Slamm,

When do your nights and weekends start? 8p or 9p?

And it's safe to assume this includes nationwide from-anywhere-to-anywhere long distance, right?

I got a similar deal a month ago. A Free upgrade from SCP-5150 to A500 phone and $30 (ONLY!) for 480 anytime and unlimited nights and weekend minutes!!!! Sprint finally worked for me!
All I told them was that I wanted to cancel my service and that I was not using my minutes from my previous $50 500 anytime minute plan. I also said that my phone drops calls so they upgraded my phone!

I added another phone - this is our second phone - and here is the deal that I got:

First Phone ( been with sprintpcs for 4 years): $30 per month - was getting:

450 Anytime minutes
2000 Night and Weekends - starting at 8pm
First incoming minute free - unlimited
Free nationwide long distance
No Contract

New Deal on first phone:

480 Anytime minutes
2000 Night and Weekends - starting at 8pm
First incoming minute free - unlimited
PCS to PCS - unlimited
Free nationwide long distance
No contract

Deal on second phone added yesterday: $29.99 per month

480 Anytime minutes
Unlimited night and weekends - starting at 9pm
PCS to PCS unlimited
Free nationwide long distance
One year contract

Now here is the icing on the cake: my new billing cycle started yesterday and when I checked to see how many minutes I had left, I found that my original plan which was supposed to have been increased to 480 anytime minutes from 450 minutes now shows that I have 630 anytime minutes! I have no idea how this happened but needless to say, I am pleased with it.

For anyone looking to add a phone, go straight to retentions - and not the usual customer service - and explain to them that you are looking to add a phone and would like to stay with sprint but would like the best possible deal for the two phones at the least cost. I did not even threaten cancellation - just told them what I wanted. It was offered to me without any hassle. I did have to make two calls - the first lady in retentions was very helpful but she said I needed to charge the new phone before activating it. She also said that the second phone would have to be on the standard deal that was being offered and that she did not have any flexibility to make any change on the second phone but she did give me more minutes on the first phone including unlimited pcs to pcs. I called three hours later after the phone was charged and the guy in retentions told me that there was a promotional rate for existing customers who were adding a phone and that it would be what I finally got.

What I could not get on the second phone was night and weekends starting at 8pm and first incoming minute free. I have both those still on the first phone. I also could not get the activation on the new phone waived - although the lady who I first talked to said that it would be free activation if I agreed to a contract for one year on the second phone. Anyway, I decided not to push my luck with the guy who was giving me the promotional deal for additional anytime minutes on the new phone.

All in all, I am pretty pleased - especially if it turns out that I actually have 630 anytime minutes on the first phone - given that I thought that I was going to be getting only 480 minutes.

Re service in the Northern Virginia area where I live, the service when I first got sprint was inadequate. But about a year ago, between getting a new phone and enhancements that sprint has made, the service is generally excellent. The alternative for me would have been Verizon - but the deals that Verizon offers don't even come close.

Well, this is an update to my plan...I found out that my 1st incoming minutes somehow only worked for one day. Shitty. So I called them and they said it was b/c of my 50 min of Roaming conflicting with it. So they took off the Roaming minutes, leaving me my 1st incoming minute free. I then played dumb bout PCS to PCS minutes asking bout it...then suggested that since I wasnt getting the Roaming Minutes, why not PCS to PCS minutes...after some talking, got the Sprint Service Rep to agree. So now my plan went from:

200 Anytime
2800 N&W (After 9pm)
----------------------------
$30/month

To the modified:

400 Anytime
3000 N&W (After 8pm)
Unlimited PCS to PCS
1st Incoming Minute Free
-----------------------------------
$35/month

I was able to get 30 min complimentary on my Anytime cause of the problem with the 1st Incoming Minute. So far this month, Ive used 125 1st Incoming Minutes (not counting the 27 that were screwed up), and 50 min PCS to PCS calling.

I love my new plan!

I called this past saturday this time to switch my area code. Went to retention and got it done and kept my retention plan too. Then I asked for 8PM start time and got it! But today (monday) I tested this, and made calls at 8:03 and 8:15 PM and both calls used up my 400 daytime minutes! What's going on?!

Of course, then I called customer service at retention, and the CSR confirmed to me I do have 8PM start time. I don't think she's lying. So I still don't know why 8:15 and 8:03 calls counted in 400 daytime. I'm baffled. BTW, I went online at sprintpcs.com to test and view this usage.

Your new 8pm starting time takes effect with the next billing cycle, so you are still @ 9pm for the remainder of this month's billing cycle, whenever that ends for you.

I am thinking about switching over to Sprint now. Does anyone know if this works in the Cupertino hills? Verizon does, so I hope this does also. THanks for your input and help.

I just called sprint because i started my new month with my new plan (see above for details on plan). I was supposed to have 3000 N+W @ 8pm but the web site showed Unlimited at 9pm. I spoke to a CSR and he had to speak with Cancellations to fix the problem. I didn't speak to cancellations tonight so I am not sure if it was a problem but they claim that it is at 3000@8pm despite what the web site says. The cancellation rep also told the CSR to tell me that she is surprised at what a good deal I got and that I should hold on to it as long as I could since I wouldn't get such a good deal again. I think that was a bit suspicious and while I was tempted to point out that other people have gotten comparable and, in a few cases, better deals, I did not reveal such knowledge.

Perhaps I am being paranoid but keep an eye on them... Sprint may be getting smart.
