After the merger, all visits to the service center will no longer be free.
This would give us a reason to switch to a different carrier w/o any penalty.

The fee is $15 per visit + 30-45 mins of waiting time or $3/month.

Yes, I agree with you that there were no charges for getting the handset
checked. However, effective September 01, 2005 the policy has been
changed. As per the new policy there is a nominal charge for getting
the handset the handset checked.

In my opinion, Sprint has been the best cell phone company so far. I know people from California, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, and Boston, and they all have carriers different from Sprint. I'm talking about Cingular, T-mobile, Verizon, etc... They all have had major reception problems at one time or another, but Sprint has never failed me.

it's about perspective. just because YOU have low expectations from a phone company and other people do not, does not mean you have great service. it just means you have low expectations.

how do i know this? because sprint has the worst coverage of all the major players, they have almost from day one. verizon has much better coverage out here (North east) altho it's coverage isn't as good out west. altho i will say, i was in Southern call last week of august and i had better coverage with verizon than my brother did with his TMobile.

I beg to disagree (however it is always a matter of personal experiance); I have discovered (RI/MA/CT area) that I often have coverage when others using Verizon do not.

I too work for sprint-nextel and a software update is in actuallity a firmware update. Reason sprint calls it software is simple. Most of the employees are too retarded to know what a .bin file or .hex file is. Denon, do you have the luxary of using Universal PST *product support tool* If so the next time you update "software" on that 8200 make sure you click show file extention I give you the 5 headed bin file.

Laters.

Sprint now has free incomming and readylink*two way* plans now too. Its aint all bad in da hood

I tried sprint here and canceled during the trial period. The reception was horrible, I couldn't even drive accross town without it switching back and forth to roaming and getting charged every time. Cingular has by far the best coverage here.

Many people that complain about Sprint's reception are using phones with crappy reception i.e. almost any phone besides the Sanyos, Nokias, and newest Samsungs. Switching from an LG flip phone to a Sanyo 4900 made a world of difference.

It also depends on where you live and sprint has really bad coverage here. It's nothing new, I just thought they had gotten better. My wife and I both had plenty of charges added for roaming in the city, the people at the sprint store said it was still common and to just set the phones where they did not roam if we did not want the extra charges, which means they would cut in and out. I know some areas have good coverage though.

"If Sprint keeps changing its network configuration and periodically forces the user to get firmware update at the service center, and collects a fee it's quite clever. It's time to file a complaint with the FCC... "

I've had sprint about 4 years now...and have only went to them for 2 occassions:
1. Some buttons broke on my phone, so got a replacement phone and they transferred my address book free of charge.

2. Wife wanted to buy a new phone, so we did, and they transferred her AB also free of charge.

Other than that, we've never had to get to their center for any "firmware update"....service has always been at least good, mostly great.

Now that I get a discount through work, I get 2000 anytime minutes and free sprint to sprint for $95/month...which includes all my taxes & fees. I've not found any other carrier that gets me even close to that.

I'm on the $100 2000 minute plan with shared minutes between two phone #'s (mine & wife's). Next lower plan @ sprint was $80 for 1000 minutes but you had to pay $20 for an additional phone (which is why I paid the $100 for the 2000 minute plan).

After the additional fees for my wife (road side assistance, extra taxes, etc.) the bill used to be about $132. When I called to add myself to the company discount....it dropped to the $95 mentioned above. I love sprint.
