We get tipped off to a lot of spy shots, some taken by professionals and others snapped with the nearest Treo handy. We've never received spy shots like these, but hey, they get the job done. These spy shots, which have been converted to a negative of their original files, were posted on the ScionSmoke.com forum last night. Taking the good advice of our tipper, we inverted them to have a black background and white outlines for easier viewing. Whether or not these pics truly do show details of the next xB isn't certain. That can only be verified by 328 Scion owners who were flown to Miami Beach in December for the private unveiling of the next-gen xB and all-new xD. If any readers were part of that select group, please verify what we're looking at here in the comments. Either way, we'll be introduced to the 2008 xB and its new partner at the Chicago Auto Show in early February.

Given the unusual nature of the pictures, I highly doubt those are "spy shots"; seems like they could have been planted by Toyota to me.

Anyway, the photos are somewhat interesting - the overall look appears busier and far more conventional than the current xB, which would probably be good for overall sales. I know many people who didn't even shop the xB when looking for a car because of its looks.

Interesting...I was looking forward to seeing the new Scions and Pontiac G8 at Chicago, but I might be getting picked up for the Syracuse or Buffalo show...guess we'll see.

One of my friends works for Scion...I should just have her take pictures and send them to me

They were all put through a photoshop filter, the reason for their odd look, but yea even one lady @ our toyota dealer told my mom it took a special kind of person to own a scion.

although she thought they only offered the xB she loved my tC

I have you beat this time dear Ace Reporter. How about engineering drawings and a picture after a crash test.

I present:

Exhibit A - engineering drawing
Exhibit B - after crash test.

The general consensus on ScionLife is that these are definitely planted by Scion as a teaser leading up to the Chicago show.

I've been following the progress and rumors of this car (mostly on ScionLife) ever since I saw the T2B concept which this is based on. It's going to be a bit larger and more rounded than the current XB and will have a bigger engine (there's still some questions as to whether it'll be a 1.8 or 2.4.) If it can still manage decent city mileage (I don't expect it to be quite as good as the current lightweight box given increased size/power) this will likely be my next vehicle.

I don't quite get the Scion xB. It's ugly. It's slow. Its mileage is pretty weak considering the engine.

Yeah, since ScionLife was kind of the exclusive/chosen community that got 300+ invites to that exclusive unveiling in Miami I guess they feel an extra sense of loyalty to Scion to NOT leak anything official (although they have allowed sketches.) It's been amazing how tight-lipped all the people who went were. You'd think some photos would've somehow leaked out long ago.

What's really bad is that they locked a couple threads posting this Autoblog info yesterday, yet then they turned around and posted a thread pointing to the same thing (probably after consulting with Scion and realizing it was officially leaked.)

The fact that they posted negative photos to make it look more "spy shot" worthy is a poor attempt at an intentional leak. They know their market though, the teens and lower 20-somthings will buy into it.

Sorry, I HAD to.

Took the words out of my mouth! Saw it at the auto show over the weekend and can not believe that someone would buy it...not to mention the worthless instrument dial in the center of the car!

I puked in my mouth a little bit.

If the original xB was an engineering abortion, the very little that is shown here looks like a pure abomination.

In the end, it might be a good thing. If there are douchebags around me, I'd like to know who they are. The xB makes that easy.

Toyota can crap in a bucket and sell it as car. And everyone will go nuts to buy one.
