Spyder3Express Wow

Just got my new spyder3express for my Dell U2410. I wasn't expecting much, but man the difference is night and day from factory defaults. All the colors now look so much better, much more alive and vibrant. This was one of the best $80 I spent.......

I don't know anything about calibrators. Do you make the adjustments in software that comes with the Spyder3Express, in the OSD, in windows? Relatively simple to do? Calibrates contrast/brightness too?

The spyder3 does everything for you. You don't have to change
anything in the LSD of the monitor it will do it for you. It's really
easy....

Sounds neat. Looks to be profile based using it's own software so it's for computer content only. I'd like something for OSD tweaks for use with other applications (TV, gaming consoles, movies).

You could start your own tv calibration business with that. It`s pretty cheap.

Not a bad toy but nowhere near 6500K grayscale accuracy.

I'd really like to try some calibrating equipment like this. Seems complicated though if you have to do manual adjustments. Looks like the Eye-One Display LT or Display 2 are nice, good value options.

i1 DLT / D2 are probably the best for the money. It really isn't that complicated to do the manual adjustments. It just helps get you closer to target and then it does the rest in software.

Got mine in the mail today too. Very easy to use and was pretty shocked how cold (blue) the default settings were. Definitely a good investment for any Adobe CS user or Photog...

I've got a Spyder3 Express and it does help desktop colors a lot (I get about the same result as zod96 does). A number of my games use their own ICC profile so its not noticeable on them, but there are still enough that can use the desktop color settings that its worthwhile. Its tremendously helpful for digital photos.

How do you know if a game is using it's own ICC profile or not?

You will need pro or elite in order for it to work on multiple screen setup

Exactly. Which I didn't know at the time I bought express. I am actually going to return the express to amazon today and I ordered the Pro version for $150. I wanted to use it on at least 3 monitors and the pro version will let you do this. I also got Saturday delivery which is cool so I'll have it tomorrow.....it seems the Pro version has alot more things you can calibarate than the express version. I hope its not alot harder to use...
