Help me out here..what page are you referring too? I do not see anything about "search" or the like there....

Thanks!

That's only for the home page. To change the search page(s) open up Spybot (in advanced mode) > Tools > Browser Pages.

I think the reference is to "in IE"... since the "fixer" programs don't change your home page... so if your home
page still shows the lame search site, you still need to go to your IE settings and make your "home page" whatever
you want (as opposed to the lame search site)

Just so you all know, my home page isnt related to the issue. I get "redirected" within IE to "MySearch.com" anytime I search within the Google toolbar. I have now deleted the toolbar twice - it reinstalled it when I did it the first time...

And I hate to lose the Google Toolbar and the popup stopper....

It has to be somewhere within the registry or the like and nothing has found it...

Bump. I installed it yesterday. It's pretty good.

It doesnt stay resident, it modifies your IE privacy settings among other things.

Thanks for the tip.

I ran Spyware Nuker this morning and it identified a lot of crap, but in order to delete anything you must register and $$$.

I thought you could too but not so in my case.

It seems that it is tied with and then hidden somehow within the system, that whenever I reinstall or install the Google Tool Bar with Popup blocker, it reinstalls itself. It isn't taking me to MySearch now that the Google Tool Bar has been deleted BUT I hate losing the blocker!

I will keep trying!

These are great tools. I have had good luck using them. If you still have problems after trying everything, there is something else you can do with WindowsXP. Try this, it works great for me. Go to, programs-> accessories->system tools->system restore. Click on the option to restore from a save point. This will show a calendar with highlighted save points. Go back to a date before you had the problem. Don't worry, you can always change it back to where you were if you have any unusual problems. This will restore the registry and other files. This aways cleans everything up for me when nothing else will. You will not loose any data files, you will have to reload any software programs that were loaded after the restore date. You can also request a save at anytime. This is a great feature that not many people know about.

Then use Firefox instead?

Last night, I took the instructions to remove MS Java and will check tonight to see if that and my cleaning the Registry links has fixed it BUT I am not holding my breath. As it was after 2 AM, I had to pass until tonight to check and see where I am. It seems to have somehow linked itself with the Google toolbar in IE. I just wish that all hackers, spyware creators, virus developers and the like become live organ donors and suffer a lingering.....you know.

this happened to me, too ... what a pain! every time i ran adaware AND spybot it would go away - but on the next reboot it was back. finally resorted to the xp "restore to a previous configuration" to get rid of it. at least this worked!

btw, i think i know where you've been surfing ... pretty sure i got it from a pRon site ...

I wondered where it came from but the only one who checks the pRon sites is my 14 year old son - when I am not around! There was an incident where I had clicked through on a site and it asked me something but it was quick and for the life of me I cannot recall what, when or where it happened - BUT it was my fault.

I will try and reinstall the Google toolbar when I have some free time and need some aggravation....

I might try the restore later on too.

Thanks for the suggestions

PS About Firefox, I am using Mozilla in addition to IE now.
