For OS and 1 game, 64gb should be plenty as stand alone drive..
I don't know what you would have to gain by using SRT caching..

+1 agreed if that's the usage and if you ever change your gaming patterns or software usage down the track in a way that would need more space you could just add a second 64GB for caching which would have reduced in price further by then. (nice timing if you can buy from Newegg and don't mind OCZ with the special they just started ^_^, wish Australia had retailers that did specials like Neweggs )

I believe it is best to balance between speed and capacity, you can use your ssd as a OS drive and some programs and enjoy full speed, but only a few programs will get this luxury. However if you dedicate ssd to cache instead your accelarating a much wider base of programs from the HD so you benifit with more instances of ssd speeds but just not at full speed. I have yet to setup caching myself, but in theory losing some speed is a much better trade off if it can cover more data.

OP: You're making it way too complicated. Just install the OS on the SSD and call it a day. You'll get a huge performance boost. For caching, a more practical way to do it is to buy a crapload of RAM.

At this point in time most people get their games from download services such as steam. There are no built-in provisions within these services that allow you to install individual games away from the main folder, so at that point you're talking about ghetto hacks and workarounds. One of the beauties of SRT is that it just works. No shuffling games around or worrying about what is installed where.

Also don't discount the performance decrease that occurs if you run your drive at or near full capacity - which certainly would be an issue trying to cram any significant amount of data on a tiny 64GB SSD.

He specifically indicated that he could install his game on the SSD. A 64GB SSD is not tiny, it's large enough to fit Windows and every (non-game) program any normal user would install under Program Files. It has plenty of room. Just save your user data (music, documents, everything like that) on a HDD.

If your entire litany was intended to be a direct reply just to me, you're preaching to the choir...

Alright, so I shouldn't do the caching at all and just install the OS and CoD4? Maybe I can use the rest of the space for other games/apps then. Thanks.
