Question SSD Failure?

My son sent me a text this morning telling me that his computer wouldn't boot. The screen was black and it said "Reboot and select proper boot device". Last night a storm came through our area and knocked out power. His PC has a UPS and was still up and running. It appeared that it was going to take a while for power to be restored so we shut everything down. This morning it wouldn't boot. The drive in question is a PNY CS900 500GB SSD purchased and installed back in March of this year. Here is what we have tried so far:

Reseating the SATA and power cables to the drive
Trying another SATA port on the computer
Trying another power cord and SATA cable

None of that worked. The drive is recognized in the BIOS. So I took it out completely and put it in a USB to SATA enclosure I use for cloning drives and such. When I plugged it in to my PC and go to Disk Management it says the drive needs to be initialized and lists the drive as only 20MB. Have I lost this drive?

I think probably your SSD is dead.kind of death is like heart attack.so all data on SSD will be gone instant and you can't recover them , unlike HDD , you still have time to recover them when HDD is going to fail.

Attach it as a storage drive in another computer. Do any of the data show in windows explorer?

Most likely the drive is toast, sorry to say.

I concur. Most likely the drive is dead. Hopefully any important data is backed up. Since the drive was installed recently, it may be under warranty.

I have other software that can read the S.M.A.R.T. details and is says there is nor information available and also has this drive listed as a magnetic drive instead of an SSD.

I did, it isn't recognized in WE as the drive isn't initialized according to disk management.

Not really any important data on it, it's just the boot drive for my son's computer he uses for gaming. It is under warranty though.
