SSD/Harddrive issue...

I set up my system to run a 64 gb cache drive to run with my 1TB hard drive.....I initially set my system to RAID....When I went to install windows it asked to partition my 1tb drive.....which I did. I made a 120gb partion....

The systems works flawlessly, however windows only recognize my hard drive as 120gb....when I look at the RAID screen it shows it as the 1TB drive...

Why does Windows 7 64bit not recognize the rest of the drive? What do I have to do to fix the issue?

you need to partition the rest of the space or you set the computer up in raid 0 with the SSD and HDD, so only giving a max 128GB space.

Go to Computer Management -> Disk Management and you'll be able to create another volume on the remaining HDD capacity.

I have no idea why you created a small partition on the HDD in the first place though. That kind of defeats the purpose of using SRT in the first place.

So would it be better to add another partition to the drive, or reformat the drive and start over?

Completely fine to add the other partition, since it's currently not partitioned right now.

There are tools to mess around with hard drives that have been partitioned, and you have to add/resize/delete, etc.., but in this case, you can just leave the current partition, and create a partition on the left over space.

Last night I decided to just start over.....Deleted my raid array and reinstalled Windows....Re-installed all drivers and Hard drive was showing full capacity....went to reconfigure Raid Array to 0, Striping....dont need a backup, have a separate drive for that....Re-boot system and got the following error message NO BOOTMGR ??????

Now I'm really confused. What two drives did you RAID together? RAID 0 only gives you a performance benefit if you use two of the same drive in the array. Otherwise you will only get twice the performance of the slower drive.

Note that RAID 0 is not the same as SRT.

So was my computer..... I was confused about RAID 0 and SRT..... Everything worked fine when I did not create the RAID 0 and just set the Bios to RAID, and let the computer set up the SRT.....

I have learned a lot from my build experience.....Thanks for everyones assistance.
