Ok I know this is something not many have probably dealt with, I have a older socket 754 system I am letting my son use for the next few months until I upgrade and kick my current system his way. This board has sata ports, so I plan to put a older ssd (owc 3g 40gb drive) on it to give it a much needed speed boost.
The board has no pci lock, it is a via chipset :/ so I have figured out that the western digital 7200 rpm drive on it now, will tolerate about 223mhz which is about 37.16 pci bus speed. Anything over that and there is data corruption. I guess my question is, in general are ssd drives more tolerant or less tolerant on out of spec speeds? I am not storing anything important on this drive, so I want to run the cpu as fast as I can.
