Ok I know you dont wanna defrag a ssd drive. My question is it ok to defrag your registry if you have your os installed on an intel ssd

I defrag registry quite regularly using tools like TuneUp Utilities or RegistryMechanic(better choice). If I have a lot of programs installed, its quite a noticeable performance boost. Been doing this on all my machines, for years now, never had any problems doing it. You can also backup your registry before you do it if you're shaky.

Due to the nature of SSDs, it practically makes no difference if your file is fragmented. Also IIRC, due to wear-leveling used by your SSD, you can't exactly defrag it like you'd defrag a non-SSD drive.

The problem here is: defragging only helps with larger sequential reads/writes and well, I can't imagine that these happen often..

I wouldn't mess with the registry without a good reason.

Don't listen to this coward - you can MANUALLY defrag your registry by simply deleting all the periods, commas, and colons. Its WAY faster than the automatic method...no, really, listen to the coward. Leave the registry alone like you would leave alone sex toys you found in your parent's room.

Defragging your registry is pointless regardless of the type of disk you've got Windows installed on.

Don't touch the registry!

I don't understand why people think they need to "clean/optimize/fix" the frackin' registry. I've yet to ever see any improvements from this, but i've seen countless broken OSes due to people screwing around in there.

The only time anything needs to be touched in there is if you had spyware/malware on the system, or if you're really OCD, perhaps running CCleaner (though again, this will not magically improve anything).
