So here's the problem. Last night i shut down my pc, and then rebooted, but I only got to the "starting windows" thing, and it just sat there. I waited for several minutes, but nothing happened, so I just shut the pc off by pressing the button.

I downloaded some vpn software, and that may the the problem. but as i said i can't find out, since i cant boot. but i do have a secondary 2 tb drive, and i disconnected the ssd, and installed windows on that. So now i can use that, but not the ssd. If i boot windows, with the ssd plugged in, it will prioritize the ssd, and won't get further than the starting windows thing. But if i boot without the ssd plugged in, everything works find, but the drive wont show in disk partition, so i cant format it. I've tried using the windows disk, while having the ssd plugged in, but then it'll boot from the ssd even though the only boot device in bios is set to dvd-rom. What do I do? If i boot the cd without the ssd plugged in, i get to the windows install thing, but if i plug in the ssd, it wont be recognized. The ssd shows in the bios. Please respond ASAP.

My specs (custom built):
i7 2600k
Gigabyte gtx 560ti 1gb oc
16gb kingston ram 1600mhz
crucial m4 ssd 64 gig
seagate 2tb hard drive
gigabyte g1 sniper 2 motherboard

HELP!!!!

you'll need to go into your bios settings and change the boot priority order...

go into Advanced Bios settings,
1) change the options for First and Second BOOT device, so it lists the CD ROM first, and the Hard Disk is second

2) then also go into the HARD DISK BOOT PRIORITY setting on the same screen, and rearrange the list, so it has the 2TB drive ahead of the SSD drive ...

The thing is, i've done that. I disabled all the boot priorities except for the cd rom. also, don't think i can change the boot priorities of the two drives, there's only one option, "harddrive". I'll check if i'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure that it's like that.

ok, i stand corrected. i was able to change to boot priority, and boot from the cd, with the ssd connected. But after i loads some files from the cd, it goes to the "starting windows thing" to start the installation... and it just seems to sit there, and nothing happens. Help?!!?

Should i try to just let it sit there for a few hours, or?
Btw, thanks mlc for the help.

Is it possible to put the SSD back into the boot loop and boot into Safe Mode and system restore it to prior installing the VPN software on it?

After you boot to the Windows CD, try a repair install.

I'll try that.

I can't do that because I can only access the cd if i don't have the ssd connected. Tried to just remove windows from the 2tb, but it said i needed a installation cd even though i had it in. I had a restore point on the 2tb, but it didn't work.

I use a tv as a monitor, so sometimes nothing shows until i'm at login. Last time i tried to use safe mode, started loading a big load of text, and then if froze :/

now that you can see the SSD drive.. run some diagnostics on it.. and make sure you have the latest firmware for it...

you may want to try pulling some of the ram .. so it's just running with one stick .. to see if that gets past the problem.. Sometimes windows is finicky that way.. don't ask...

also .. how long did you let it "hang" before given up? i would give it 15 -20 minutes of so.. just to see it it gets over the hump... no harm in trying...

I'll let it sit for a few hours. Also, i can't see the ssd, because hard drive partition of whatever won't recognize it if i connect it after boot :/
