SSD with a SATA2(3Gb/s) mobo..?

I am currently debating on getting an Intel 520 SSD. My problem is that my motherboard only supports SATA2. I know I will definately see performance issues. Is it worth it? I'm very happy with my specs and I don't plan on upgrading for some time but I think even with SATA2 the SSD upgrade will be massive!

Yep. Large file transfers will be slower vs. SATA3, but small reads/writes are what determine general computing experience speeds, which isn't affected by max throughput. You will still be very happy.

It could be SATA 1 and it would still be blazing fast. You can barely tell the difference between SATA 1 and SATA3 unless you are installing a 300MB+ program.

The biggest benefit SSDs bring are access time, latency and random reading. None of these 3 are affected by the SATA 3Gb/s limit. You only see a big improvement with 6Gb/s over 3Gb/s if you are reading or writing from a source which can sustain a file transfer at those speeds for long enough, ie copying a 25GB file from one SSD to another. You've probably realised now that the average user does not have that workload.

If you're on a HDD now, the difference will be huge. Plus I'm sure you'll recycle your 6Gb/s SSD into another rig or sell it on.
