Only RS in my area was the floor model. Floor model was locked in a case and the box and its contents were mint. The battery on/off switch was still in the off position so looks like it was never turned so you know I grabbed it for $349.99.

Damnit, went to pick mine up at my local radio shack (cuz I have a card for there) wanted to get 2 ... none ... they called everywhere on the east coast ... the closest store with one in stock was Lansing, Michigan and the one they had was spoken for by an employee ... he told me that the managers at Radio Shack were buying these all up just like the employees ... DAMNIT! Time to call Sears...

I managed to get one! None of the 8 stores around me had any (Eugene, OR), and the first few people I talked to at different stores said they couldn't find any. I went to the Gateway Mall RS and they said there were 2 in their Texas distribution center. WOOHOO! I paid for it right there and it'll ship directly to my door in 8-10 working days.

It's for my fiance for Christmas, but I have a feeling I'm going to be hogging it.

it came without the AC adapter, shouldn't that be the power supply? Or I'm missing something here?

misterj, this model is indeed being discontinued (if it hasn't already been) which is why you're seeing monthly, if not weekly, deals for the 3600 series iPAQs. Compaq will still provide support through the standard one-year warranty but by next year, these models will be faint memories in retail stores. However, if all you're interested in is the PIM functions and its multimedia capabilities, these won't truly become obsolete until the next generation X-Scale processor from Intel.

Yeah, by power supply I meant AC adapter...

BTW thanks to you guys about the case info. I'm gonna go and ask about it to see what they'll do.. although it's not a big deal for me since I already have that case for my old 3150.

I called my local Rat shack, picked up the display model for $350, I showed the store guys the rebate and they couldnt believe it. My model was still mint, the box was a bit banged up, but it had not even been turned on yet. Now its time to get rid of my Visor that I just bought a month ago for $120

IMHO if they are selling the display model w/ missing parts, they should apply some additional discount or give you the AC adapter for free.

I believe MN is completely wiped dry of these (display models included). Had manager at the local RS searching all evening calling all of his other district manager buddies and finally called me at home to say they located a brand new one in some small town in Missouri and is having it intra-office shipped at no expense!!

I'd say by tomorrow at this time, every damn RS will be stripped clean.

Now, where to find deals on the accessory items.........??

Just got back from my local RS where I had the manager hold the last one for me til 7pm. Amazingly, he did! I know I was taking my chances but he's a nice guy. Got there and he said he'd had calls from all over for it since I called, do I guess I got lucky with his being a good guy. With an employee discount it went like this:

-$35.00 (10% employee discount)
=$314.99
+$18.90 tax (ugh)

$333.89 ttl
-$150.00 rebate

$183.89

Went to Staples to pricematch w/ $40 coupon but the manager wouldn't budge, said it was too much of a discount. I'm happy with the turnout Thanks OP.
