heh... "because we can" is why I've been through 5 PDAs, three laptops just for the heck of it, and why my computer has identity issues.

It sounds cool though. Can the ipaq work with VNC software (such as tridiaVNC)? It'd be fun to control the desktop. I'll see if I can find it again, but yesterday while browsing around I came across some software that allowed you to control winamp on a remote computer on a wireless network from a pocketpc. Might be the only excuse I need to get the wireless gear

<< There were none of these in any of the RS warehouses prior to the sale so don't expect them to mgically appear. If you want one you will have to check the B&Ms as existing store stock is your only option. RS sales peolple will tell you anyting to get you buy someting since they work on commission

Actually, I made him show me the screen, and the day of the sale there were two in their Texas warehouse. I made sure I wasn't buying a product that didn't exist.

I agree with how sneaky RS "sales associates" can be though. Ugh.

Just checked RS's website and it looks like the 3635 is back in stock and available for online order. However, it doesn't show the sale price of 349 anymore. Anyways this just seems kind of fishy, when I was looking for one, all the RS sales people kept saying, we don't have anymore, and we probably wont get anymore either. Liars.

I'm going wireless, but not the way you're talking.

I just got a Linksys 8 port router/switch and since I got the Ipaq now, I'm going to exchange it for the 4 port with the wireless built in. It's about $20 more at CompUSA and you get a $20 rebate. I just got rid of two computers, so I don't need the 8 ports now anyway. I'm also going to get a CF wireless card tomorrow with it. I'm thinking the Linksys since it and Dlink are the cheapest and I don't care for Dlink products. Looks like it sticks out more than the Socket & Symbol versions though. Not sure if it's worth $30-50 more to get a smaller "antenna". It would be nice, but I'm not sure if it's worth more $$$.

I'll probably get a cable to hook it up to my cell phone too eventually, but it's not high on my list right now.

I just found a Staples with a couple of the 3635's in stock, priced at $449. Anyone know of any places that are stilll showing the 3635 as available for $349 or lower so I can pricematch?

I know of no such place at the moment. I suspect that most 3635's have been cleaned out, which is probably what Compaq wanted--to purge the previous model so they can put the push on the new 3800 series.

There may be more deals on 3600's after the first of the year, but I suspect they'll be hard to come by. I'll keep my eyes peeled nonetheless. Maybe Compaq is still sitting on some?

Would also be wise to keep an eye on Compaq's Factory Store. Refurb 3600's are pricey now, but that could change pretty quickly. I see that they've dropped the monochrome 3135 down to $99.

Never say never. I ordered two 3635 at a local RS store on 12/5. I wasn't too optimistic for actuatly getting them. Today, I talked to the manager and he said they are waiting for me. Yahoo!

Hey I lost my radio shack receipt too. Started going crazy $150 Rebates, looking around the internet etc... Finally I found on hqrebates site, that stores can store receipts.

Called Radio Shack (each one has their own customer database separate from other stores), 3 of them, the last one was the one i had went to, and the guy there printed it out!

I was really happy to get it, sent it just 1 week before the 30 day deadline!!!

In conclusion, don't give up hope losing a receipt, try and ask the store to print you out another one!!!

This is a Hawaii deal only. I was back for a while in Honolulu and stopped in Sears at Ala Moana for an unrelated item and saw they have one 3635 left. Might be a display item but I saw the actual iPaq and the box it came in deep in the display case. If I had the time I might have tried to get it but the wife was waiting for me and I would have been in deep &*(%! if I came back with another iPaq (already got the 3135 for $150).

If any local boyz happen to read this thread good luck on getting a good deal at sears. The rebate is still valid and you may be able to get it for <$150.

bah, just got back, none of the stores in my area have it in stock. Rat shack dosen't do PM and its price is back to 500 something. All my compusa stores are out. this is chicago area. I just placed an order at insight and when I got to the product page it was $250 but when I checked out the total was $301 , the price had changed from $250 to $290 without telling me gonna call them tomorrow and see if they will change the price or I will cancel
