I'm worried about that happening to my Frenchie so I've just been carrying him down stairs right now.. he's still a pup though so he's light enough to keep doing it. 5ish months and 13lbs.

I always did that with my mini doxi. Their backs are prone to injury and they weigh slightly more than a shoe, so it's no big deal.

Plus you get a free face washing!

My female dachshund was like this too. She would only go up or down if I stood beside her and gave a gentle tap on her behind.

The male is better but still gets stuck in the middle of the stairs once in a while.
