I will doing a 'little' road trip up north (for a concert) this saturday,
I will stop by Kansas City on Friday night and (probably will) have an entire afternoon in Saint Paul MN. I am wondering is there anything to do, eat, drink and see.
more update later...
UPDATE:
here's when & where I've been,
Friday Night: Kansas City, WestPort area.
entire Saturday and Sunday morning: St. Paul and Minneapolis
Sunday Afternoon: Iowa, Des Moine
now, my impressions,
KC: i got there late at night so I didn't really get to see the entire city, but Westport is a nice area with stylish restuarants and bars. However, the surrounding area doesn't leave much to desire. (39 Ave was ghetto!)
Des Moine, IA: As expect, it is a very small town indeed. but the downtown is very nice, new, and clean. I see lots of reconstruction going on so I think it will look fabulous. But it is still a very very small city.
St Paul, MN: great city, lots of nice, "Victorian" houses and buildings. the Cathedral is nice, and so are all the houses on Summit Ave. St Paul downtown is neat, streets are clean and no beggers/hobos, unlike L.A.; and unlike San Fran, roads are flat, with some occassional uphill incline. This is my first time visiting a city with rivers intersecting it, so it's quite a neat experience.
I did not spend too much time in Minneapolis, it was a sunday and everything is closed. I did drive around it though but I somehow felt more attach to St. Paul instead. Minneapolis has newer, more 'fashionable' buildings like shopping malls, threater complex and entertainment centers.
