Tops supermarkets usually has them for $19.95 or something close to that for 1 dozen roses on St V's Day. (I don't think it's over $24.95. I don't think they'll deliver though. Last year may have been $16??? Can't remember. Take the day off from work... buy a few cheap vases at the dollar store.... take orders from coworkers, and be your own delivery guy. (Charge the coworkers 35 or 40). Use the profits to pay for the flowers for your wife, as well as buy something nice for yourself

Rather than sending it overseas - and I am not even sure they are permitted to be "imported" - I'd try buying the online in the UK...

you are going to pay a lot either way, either in shipping or in the currency conversion. Anyway, I suggest just use your Visa or something and order from a distributer in the UK. You could try Here, but I just googled it, so you can probably root around and find some better prices. Currently, 1£ = $1.638, and you are going to pay a fee to your credit card on top of that for the conversion. You probably will end up around $70 or $80 when all is said and done.

if u guys are ever around the berkeley area.. the flowers here are so much cheaper (and higher quality) then any stores around. I remember in the suburbs I lived in.. it was 6 bucks for a single rose! dozen went to like 30-40 bucks.. here? dozen.. probably 10-12 bucks.. single rose.. like 1-2 bucks.. so much better quality too

Ok, maybe this isn't completely v-day-ish (not saying you should substitute the fresh-cut ones for these).. but speaking of Costco and roses... and if your significant other's into gardening... Costco has rosebushes for $9.99... hey unlimited roses for $10 =) Well, hopefully it's useful to someone here!

man this thread was like 2 days late this year...its tougher to get shipping on valentine's day once we get this down to the wire. I couldn't wait for deals so I ordered earlier to guarantee v-day delivery.

There's also Teleflorist, which appears to be the UK equivalent of FTD. You'll get raped on price though as usual. Your best bet is probably to find a local florist close to where your GF works in London and phone them to see if they'll deliver to her office. That may save you a little cash.

I don't like the idea of flowers being delivered in a FedEx/UPS box. I'd like to have them hand delivered, already prepared in a vase. Anybody know of any online florists that do this? Preferably one with decent prices.

What you're looking for are either (1) places like FTD that have a network of florists, or (2) to find a florist local to the delivery area and going through them directly.

I agree with the FedEx/UPS boxes.

wow, I used www.2dozenroses.com on 2/01/03 to order 2 dozens with vase, bears, chocolates and stuff for 69.95 shipped on the V-day. Just went there to check and the price now already 89.95 for the deal. Talk about snoozing... I wonder if they are going to screw those who pay less, in order to service better those who paid more. Or could be that they are saturated and pretty much meeting demand by raising prices. I'll report back on quality.
