Stability issue running Atitool+Orthos Blend *SOLVED*

So I have a stability issue that isn't related to the CPU or memory, at least I don't think so. My system is Orthos Blend test stable, but when I run Atitool and Blend simultaneously, the system freezes within 10 minutes. The freezing occurs in gaming as well but I've never had a crash in Windows doing something not related to the GPU like writing this post. It doesn't cut the power, the screen just freezes and the fans slow down.

So what is the problem in my system? Is there a voltage I should increase or some other tweak. I haven't tried stressing with stock CPU yet since it doesn't seem to be the culprit. I did revert to default GPU clocks but that didn't help. And the system is stable running Atitool alone as well. Any ideas? Help is much appreciated

I don't suppose you could measure the 12v output of your PSU with a voltmeter? My guess is you're overloading *a* 12 volt output, which is causing a bit less juice to go the CPU -- but only when both the GPU and CPU power draw is at the absolute maximum.

A 3.3 ghz E4500 is going to want around 8 amps. ditto your GPU. Add in fans, and that's in the neighborhood of what a single output (rail) of that PSU is capped at. You are using PCIe plugs to power the GPU, right? Not molex adapters?

I thought ATiTool took up some CPU utilization as well, so your CPU would be running at 130% with both. Might that be it?

use OCCT 2.0.0 CPU mode or P95, latest, small FFT, test your CPU.

sue memtest for windows, test your mem

use OCCT 2.0.0 MEM mode, test mem timings, northbridge.

If all those work....then..hmmm...

Run http://www.nvworld.ru/downloads/vmt.zip VMEMtest to check memory of your gfx card.

If this all checks, it should be PSU. OCCT also should show you a drop or ripple on the rails of the PSU.

make sure you have latest drivers also.

No matter how many programs you run together you can't use more than 100% of your CPU. When I run Atitool and orthos together, cpu usage is 100% i.e. orthos - 70% , atitool - 30%.

Well whaddya know. The CPU wasn't stable afterall. Bumped the Vcore up a notch which did the trick. I guess the Blend test doesn't stress the CPU as much as it should.
