The Seahawks sold the naming rights for Seahawk Stadium to Qwest. Now it's going to be named Qwest Field. That sounds awful, ugh, ntm that Qwest isn't even based in Seattle.

Everyone knows it should've been called the Starbucks Grounds.

the chickenhawks blow monkeys for fun.
they should have called the field "the neverending qwest", as it is a neverending quest for the hawks to be a decent team...

This will sound sad, but I hadn't really heard of Safeco the company before Safeco Field was built.

At least Safeco Field and the Key Arena have nice rings to them -- Qwest Field just sounds like garbage.

Generally if I know the name of a stadium before it's sold out to the highest-bidding company with a rather embarrassing name, I try to continue using its original name.

Of course, that's because I'm a rebel. The Superdome has never sold out, but I think that's probably because no one wants to be affiliated with the Saints.

I'm glad my favorite team's stadium hasn't been sold out: Oriole Park at Camden Yards, although no one calls it Oriole Park.

I think the basketball/hockey arenas have the worst sounding sell out names out of any of the sports.

I could see a papermill sponsoring the Saints. All the better to make paper bags for.

I agree with your point. I think I'll continue to call it Seahawks Stadium (as it is, I usually refer to it as "the stadium", although I can see how that could be confused with Husky Stadium).

It's just so rare for corporately named stadiums to sound right -- the only other I can think of at the moment is PacBell Park.

Qwest Field? eww.. guess it could be worse --- "Citizen's Bank Park" or "Lincoln Financial Field" both of which are just way too clunky

Kansas City..home of "Arrowhead Stadium", and "Kauffman Stadium" (named after the late great Ewing M. Kauffman)

I'm glad we haven't whored ourselves out to corporate sponsers like the rest of the league. (NFL and MLB)

Yeah, a team raising hundreds of millions to cover costs and probably help the team over something trivial is "whoring". Frick, i'd wear advertisement t=shirts every day if it paid well enough. Your silly if you dont see the upside of a team making lots of money in a way thats only harful to the ingnorant.

Hey, they do it. I just believe the name of my stadiums are sacred.

Yeah, well, that sounds a lot better when the team didn't take 200+ million tax dollars to build the stadium (or 500 million despite the vote for the new stadium failing in the Mariners' case).

At least "The Link" makes for a catchy name. Calling Qwest Field "The Q" sounds incredibly stupid.

Better than Cellular One Park or whatever the White Sox named theirs, then there are the Bears, Presented by Bank One.

Heh, yeah, a lot of names do suck. One of my favorite was/is The Great Western Forum. You hardly even knew there was a corporate sponsor. Course, now neither baseball stadium has a corp sponsor which is great. Staples Center isn't a bad name per se nor is The Arrowhead Pond. Nice touch calling it a pond since the Ducks play hockey and all.

The one that cracks me up is the Arizona Diamondback's stadium, Bank One Ballpark. Otherwise known as "The BOB":laugh:

Maybe so, that one's nice, but what about "Citizen's Bank Park"? There's no previous name to go on, and there's no really catchy nickname, "The Cib" doesn't sound right.. Nothing really does.
