Sure, maybe McDonalds will allow some of you to keep your jobs after a dui manslaughter. I'd lose my job instantly. If my wife was convicted, she would lose her job instantly. My professional license would be revoked. 1 year off from a multi-million dollar salary is a slap on the wrist for killing someone.

It's sad how celebrities get away so much with breaking the law, even murder.

If this had been a normal citizen he'd at least go to jail or get a fine, at least.

I still consider it murder. By drinking and driving, you know you are most likely going to kill or hurt somebody, it only makes sense to classify it as murder. They need to be more strict with drunk related accidents.

Wow, he got screwed. There was a clear precedent with the Leonard Little case from a few years back.

From ye olde Wiki:

After leaving a birthday party drunk in 1998, Little crashed into and killed Susan Gutweiler in St. Louis, MO.

Roger S. Goodell...officially began his tenure on September 1, 2006, just prior to the beginning of the 2006 NFL season.

I think it's been made pretty clear that any leniency Tagliabue had toward guys like Little, Ray Lewis, and Jamal Anderson is NOT precedent for Goodell.

404- Screwage Not Found

Heaven forbid a pseudo-governing body maintain consistency in punishment, regardless of a leadership change. Tagliabue did an amazing job bringing the NFL to where it is today, and Goodell will probably run it into the ground.

Tagliabue was an educated commissioner that exercised fair and equitable punishment and made the game itself issue number one.

Goodell is an idiot who benefited from the fact that just about everyone knows who his father was, and has managed to make off the field stories the main issue over the past couple of years with his ridiculous and arbitrary punishments.

I realize he's trying to appeal to the masses and not offend the casual fans, but let the legal system sort it out and keep players on the field. All the idiots who care so much about off the field drama can go read People magazine for entertainment.

Aside from the idiot who ran in front of his car, I think 1 year for DUI is perfectly acceptable for any player whether they kill someone or not.

I believe the pedestrian in question crossed a busy 6 lane divided highway against the signal and that was considered a major mitigating circumstance.

Not here, this is ATOT where people defend it until their dying breath.

I personally hope they crash and kill themselves for being such reckless asswipes.

It happened in Miami, so it's not that bad.
