FYI, december 31st, 1969 in the world of software, is before
the epoch. Time starts, counted in seconds from 0:00, January 1st, 1970. Some databases often read december 31st, 23:59:59, which translates into the integer -1. The 30th is a much bigger negative number. Something is screwy with their DB, which could be adjusted for DST and such.
Hopefully all computers will be greater than 32 bit in a couple decades. With 32 bit machines, we can represent time until like 2030-something until it wraps around to the negative time of like 1910. Since 64-bit is around already, it shoudn't be a problem.
In other words: negative time = NOT HOT.
