You obviously don't live in the southern part of the country. Humidity in summer is typically the biggest issue as it's sub tropical near the coast not a breezy experience typically. The humidity is typically 70%+ and if you factor in a hurricane it's even worse.
It's been over 70% humidity here for the past month, maybe longer but it was cooler in spring so I didn't notice as much. Indoors with AC running, it drops to about 50%.

Remember we're only talking about the generator not running for a few hours every night, then on again in the morning. The temperatures and humidity will not fluctuate that much unless the home is terribly leaky.

Same for winter, if the temperature is hospitable when you go to bed, and you wear appropriate blankets, you should stay warm during the few degrees drop for a few hours till morning. I even prefer for the temp to be lower overnight in winter, so I set my thermostat to do that.

Had a Tornado warning around the southwest suburbs of Chicago, Monday evening. Received pallets of portable generators Tuesday morning.
Lot's of on-line orders. hopefully not to be returned within the week. Prices were $849 (from $899) Generac 6500 and $ 999 (Firman 7500) IIRC.

What if you just didn't? Battery powered alarm clock/cell-phone/whatever to wake up on time, and if the A/C was working, it shouldn't heat up all that much overnight, and fridge and freezer if set low, won't warm up that much in a few hours if the doors aren't open.

This assumes the generator isn't a crap design that the manufacturer (not some web blog BS) states will be damaged running dry with a load.
We have a one year old and a 3 yr old. We generally keep the house at 72 and probably would have been fine letting it warm up to around 75 or so, but we would have lost sound machine and overhead fan. Could have battery backed up the sound machine but without the fan my wife would lose her shit.

Me waking up is well worth keeping the wife happy in that situation.

I put red plugs for the TV and workstation as well as the fibre ONT, which eliminates the need for a UPS at those locations as it's seamless if power goes out. Maybe I should have done the bedroom fan too.

I have a solar plug nearby though so if power goes out and I wake up I just move the fan to it. The solar plugs will also double as generator plugs once I wire in the generator properly.
