I am going to pick one up from the Staples in Beloit, WI. I live just across the border in Northern IL. The Staples here always has stock of the sale items you know why? There is a Staples distribution center right across from it LMAO.

yeah there were rumors about CC not PM'ing to Staples since it depends on if Staples has it in stock + anything over $50 PM is subject to manager's approval

luckily in my case they didn't seem to care to call or ask manager. funny thing is the total rang up as $13.xx when i thought it was around $9 or so +tax, oh well still better than 79.98 YMMV

Staples will PM it if you bought it from them at full price. I went last week to buy it at $80 and went in today to PM it. No questions asked, they just brought it down to $15. Lucky me, I also got the last set with the 5 button mouse instead of 3 button mouse (every local store only carried the 3 button)

How are these keyboard/mouse?

After using this set for a bit of time, it really is a pretty nice set for the cost. The keyboard shape does take some getting used to and the mouse feels very "lightweight" and a but on the small side, but for $15, that's the price of a generic keyboard alone.

For the keyboard, the shortcut keys are actually really nice and they can be completely customized. The "leather" wrist rest is a nice addition and it quite comfortable.

As for the mouse, it is quite customizable. All five buttons can be set to whatever you like, although the right side button is very awkwardly placed so I don't see using that much. On default, clicking the middle mouse button brings up the "instant viewer" which is great if you have a lot of windows open (sort of like Vista window switcher). The size and weight will take a bit of getting used to if coming from a heavier mouse, but I was using a basic Logitech Wireless beforehand so shouldn't be that big of a deal.

All in all, the is quite a slick deal!

I like the keyboard too, as I enjoy having a full size Backspace key and a larger Delete key.. My Dell KB had the half size ones since it's the compact style .
I just bought a 5000 series wireless mouse a week ago, so I just left the one that came with the KB in the box. It was lighter weight and a different shape, so I will probably sell it. The 5000 works with the combination KB/mouse reciever, so the old recieiver will work for the 4000 series mouse.
The shortcut buttons are nice and customizable, and the zoom slider is a nice addition.

Yes, they price match. It has to be the same exact product, and be in stock at the other store. We used to do %110, but the company recently changed it to %100.

Boy, those keyboards went pretty quick. Had some people run in to get their hands on one. I would say after the initial rush they lasted another 15 minutes.

So, if I take the Keyboard and Mouse that I bought yesterday online at the full-price, and ask for a price adjustment, based on the ad, you think they will refuse (because it's out of stock)?

If they do, can I return it, and then ask to the buy back that one at the sale price (because it is back in stock after my return and the "special" runs through the end of the week)?

~ JC ~

Sorry, I was talking about pm from a different store. I dont know if its company wide, but usually our store lets people do that (our only exception is black friday). What we usually do is return it and sell that same one at the sale price, so it has to be within 14 days.

The quality of the keyboard: I would say meh. If I needed a wireless mouse I would have gotten it just for that, but the keyboard is imo terribly thick, not sleek, I also dont like the feel of the buttons and keys.

As for just using the mouse by itself, it should work. Im using a wireless keyboard/mouse combo (logitech) right now without using the mouse.

What exactly are you asking?
If you want to just use the mouse from this combo, you can just leave the KB in the box.

yeah that's what I meant. One time I thought I saw a keyboard/mouse combo where they were linked together somehow but now that I think about it that makes no sense lol.

In for a Brother 2140 Laser Printer. Very nearly paid full price ($119) for one of these the other day at Office Depot, so $49 is a nice surprise. I know that Staples rebates actually work, too, so no worries there. Thanks OP.

I went back to my local Staples this morning and picked up the last 2 Acer 19" LCD monitors they had for $ 149.99. Supposedly $80 off.The store manager really tried the hard-sell on me to get the Staples' extended warranty for $50 that he said would cover BOTH monitors. I didn't bite. I've usually had good-luck with electronics lasting a long time. The Sony Trinitron monitor I'm replacing I bought in 1997 and it still runs fine, so...

Picked up the Microsoft wireless kb/mouse yesterday. Really needed it for my HTPC system and my new 47" HDTV 1080p. Can't beat the price of $15 for a quality wireless kb/mouse!

Had the playos from 2 yrs ago and they burned great on my benq1655. Now when I burn they are more iffy. Still usually passable and sometimes great. Still not sure if its the disks that are spotty or my burner getting old. They showed as aml002 on the +r. I hear they have a new code now

Wow, not that is a nice deal too. I wouldn't mind picking up the Logitech Wave set for $15.

Sweet. They were sold at the store here afterall so I got the Wave set. Much nicer anyway IMO. That is a $90 keyboard/mouse combo for $15. I tried to get two but they wouldn't let me. Might try it again later this week.

The Microsoft® 4000 wireless keyboard gone in my local Staples in 10 minutes, so it is very YMMV.

I spoke with a friend who tried to get one locally yesterday morning, as well as a Staples Associate today.

My friend was told the same story as they told me. Most stores had about a dozen or so. Our store was sold out by 10:06 they said. They are hoping for more coming on Wednesday, but I doubt that happens.

What I always wonder is just how many people get pissed enought to not shop at Staples anymore when they constantly advertise deals that they cannot deliver on.

There were still a bunch of 32" TV's and 19" monitors.

It's more of a case of "your availability may vary". The deal is still the same.

Maybe I should go back to my Staples and see if they'll give me the Logitech Wave instead.

The +R Playos from Staples are identified as MCC004 but the packaging says made in China and no serial number on the discs. After the bad disc quality scans, I suspect these have a fake media code.

I would. Like I said a few post back I was happy when the MS one was sold out because I saw both on display and the Wave is way nicer.

The APC UPS is a little small for a computer but may be worth picking up anyway if you live in an area where the power goes out in the spring thunderstorms.

Plug a lamp with a CFL light bulb into it. When the power goes out you'll still have light in one room. With a low draw CFL it will last for hours.

I have one under my bed with my alarm clock and lamp plugged in it. No more flashing alarm clock lights and being late for work when the power blips during the night.

I prefer the MS Keyboard but the Logitech mouse. The 4th and 5th mouse buttons on the MS Mouse are very awkwardly placed.

I went in yesterday and they didn't offer me the Wave. I guess I should have asked. They said to call back when the new stuff came in and they'd had a chance to unload the truck. So I call today and they say the truck was delayed and I should call back 6 hours later. I'm getting a busy signal again.

I guess these Playos do suck. The fourth DVD+R that I burned, the drive can't even recognize the disc when I put it back in. The third DVD+R that I burned, it took a long time to recognize. A lot longer than my RICOHJPN-R01 DVD+R 4x media took.
All the discs were burned in an LG GSA-H55N 20X IDE DVD burner. Three at 20X, one at 16X, although I don't remember which one I burned at 16X. My guess is that the drive overspeeds MCC004 media to 20X in this drive, but this Playo may not take 20X burns that well.

Glad I bought those DVDs mainly to resell.

I wonder if you burn these at 8X, if they work better. Can anyone that has a drive that can do quality scanning, test this theory?

Edit: Darn. A fifth disc that I burned at 8X, failed verify at 99%.

Edit: That unreadable disc is readable in my friend's Samsung 183 burner, but it has errors near the end of the disc.

Edit: I burned another Playo DVD+R disc at 20X, and it wouldn't even register in the drive to read afterwards, but it reads and scans perfect in my other Optiarc 7170 drive.
There seems to be an incompatibility with my LG drive and these discs. Strange though that the first two discs I burned would read and verify fine. Perhaps these garbage discs damaged my drive; if the laser power had to be turned up to burn these, and it wore out my laser.

I think I'm going to purchase two Samsung 202J drives off of NewEgg for $25 ea.

I finally managed a successful burn and verify at 12X.
Edit: Darn. After it verified, I ejected the disc, and now it's unreadable again. The drive says that there is no disc inside.
