Their online coupon page is screwy. I guess they'd rather have it be too restrictive than not restrictive enough. You need to call in you order to use most multiple coupons. I've had no problems using 4 or 5 coupons when phoning in my orders. Their operators are quite friendly and helpful.

Yeah - call it in.

Tell them what you want by item #s
then give 'em all the codes.
Usually this will work just fine as long as your not stacking "$20 off $50"-types of codes. Item specific codes (eg, $50 off a scanner), 1 general "$ off $", and "buy this get that"-codes will work together.

It seems that using too many coupons hurts their online engine's wittle bwain.

Well, I believe they just stopped allowing people to stack these two coupon codes. I went to their site and tried it (I think you actually have to put the paper in the cart, then apply the coupon), but along with the info on the promotion they basically say it's not combinable with other offers.

So, I figured I'd order on the phone like everyone else here was having success with. I ordered Quake 3 (which brought me right above the $50 limit). I then told the order representative I'd like to add a few coupons on there..gave him the $25 off $50..that was fine. Then I gave him the number for the case of paper. He said something like "Sorry sir, you'd have to have a purchase of $77.45 to apply the second coupon." I said something like "so, no go on the second one, right?" heh. Dangit! I don't know how people who ordered just 40 minutes ago got in, but be glad you did Maybe I got the only order rep. who actually checked things.

So, no go for me, but $27 shipped for Quake 3 was still cheaper than I could purchase for almost anywhere else anyway. Oh well, suppose they had to catch on sometime, and just my luck they would right before I called

No go on stacking these coupons any more. At least, not for me as of 1pm 6/21

You'll notice the text on the box of paper:

Offer expires 7/15/00. Limit one per customer, non-transferable. While supplies last. Coupon cannot be combined with any other "dollar off minimum purchase" coupon. No cash or credit back. Coupon value does not include tax. Coupon must be used at time of order.

That 'not combined with other "dollar off"' language is the key. You're not supposed to stack the paper with a $25 off $50 coupon.

BTW, you can get better paper at Costco. They typically have 24lb 94 brightness paper for $18 or less. (And after using 24lb paper regularly, 20lb feels so flimsy.)

Hey, I'm all for integrity and honor, which is why I asked. Not having the particular newspapers in front of me, I'm curious what it says. I mean if it were a REAL coupon in a real newspaper (you took to B&M) nothing prevents one from going and spending $.50 and getting a second copy of paper for a second coupon. Nothing wrong with that. A store will typically put "limit one per visit" or something like that.

I am glad you commented on this, I get sick of some of the stuff that people encourage on the forums. Like returning items to other stores to get cash, editing images of receipts, etc. Pricematching, rebates, and (most) coupons are legit!

What does the coupon paper say?

I always give the reps my "Product Specific" coupons before any generic "dollar-off" coupons. Maybe it would still work that way?

Earlier today I got:
Vtech phone
rubber bands
nylon briefcase

Then used:
free briefcase coupon
25 off 50 coupon

I told them my order in the order above and it worked fine. In a pinch, you could just order a copy of Encarta 2000 (free with rebate) to beef up your order.

heh..I was thinking of giving them the free paper one first..but I didn't want to take a chance of not being able to use the $25 off $50 one (tight on money). Is that what everyone else did? Tell the customer rep the coupon code for the case of paper first, then the $25 off $50?

you got to love Staples! I placed two orders, one for me and one for my roommate, over the phone.

I had no problems using the 25 off 50 coupon and the free paper coupon. Both of my orders came to about $30 and since both included Microsoft Encarta, I was able to get, for 5 dollars, an HP inkjet cartridge worth $30 and Avery labels worth $27, not to mention getting 2 free cases of inkjet paper!

particularly ironic is the Wall Street Journal concluding today that Web deals are over! Not at Staples (or at buy.com either, one of the stores they mentioned in the article).

We need a new motto to replace the old Staples is suck:

Staples is blow!

I just ordered 3 CD-R ten packs, a pack of videotape printer labels, and two surge suppressors for $54, with the two coupons it was $30 w/free case of paper.

I did this by phone and the guy said he had to add all of my items and then add the paper before applying the coupons. That took the total to $75ish. Those of you who had problems with this probably hadn't added the paper to your order. The two coupons are $25 off $50 and free case of paper with a $50 order. Make sure you add the paper and then use the coupon to take the cost off.
