Staples B&M CD-RW Deals

Went to Staples today and they have CDRW's on clearance....Picked up a Yamaha 8x4x24 for $99.90 scu # 086792276113....They also have a Acer 8x4x24(maybe 32) with 8mb buffer $129.90 and Sony Spressa 4x4x6 USB 79.90....Thinks this is Nation Wide....Second store I went to said not on clearance then checked sku and was....Almost bought Sony for resale value but sure is a heavy sucker.


EditI guess my first hot deal post turned out ok....I was surprised it wasn't already posted....Just happen to bank next to Staples and decided to go check on some things for a coworker....Stumbled accross the deal and couldn't resist the Yamaha....The store on Tyler in Riverside had 1 Sony last night....I almost bought it but would rather someone else who needs it have it instead....I guess I coulda made a nice profit pilaging all my local Staples before posting but what fun would that have been....

Edit#2It might be a good idea to physically get or see the item before you have them do the price check....I think most stores don't know there marked down yet....But if you call or have them check the price first you know what will happen....Greed Kills good deals....

I got the Yamaha 8x CDRW and it's a great drive. No frisbee's yet..(Damn did I just jinx myself?). The only downside of the drive is it's not Clone CD compatible....:|

Clone CD is a program that you use for cloning CDs.

One Acer 8x/4x/32x in Fairfax, VA for $129. Price wasn't marked in the case, so when I asked the sales rep, I forgot to get the SKU. My fault.

No Sony nor Yahama burners as far as I could see. Plenty of HPs.

I also received a e-mail from a non-registered reader stating that the Sony's SKU is 432-438 and price is indeed $79.90.

sup ,went to local staples and no sonys/yamahas, just acers. I asked the guy if it was on clearance and he didnt know anything about it, so i told him to check the sku. it turned out 129 and i didnt really want that one so him and his manager took the two last ones. Are the acer burners good? thanks for the tip kenmitch.

Acers are okay, I'd say Yamahas are better but that's just me (with Plextor being tops). The yamaha 8x4x24 is the same one amazon had for 120 and sold out in a day, it's going for about 150 on ebag, so I'd go after that one...but my staples was cleaned out too.

well if anyone is near the garden grove area, there are 2 more yamaha drives left, i just picked one up for 107 with tax. great deal, once again i thank kenmitch, i was sorely in need of a burner.

I was able to pick up a couple of Ricoh MP7040A drives for $99.95
at my local Staples. These are 4x-4x-24x, but can be firmware
upgraded to 6x-4x-24x. These are also (with the latest firmware)
CloneCD compatible. Comes with WinOnCD (another plus) and Seagate
backup software, as well as an IDE cable.

Oh, and the MP7040A/7060A (it becomes the 7060A after the firmware
mod) is one of the very best CD-R(W) drives in terms of DAE audio
extraction rate...This drive can be used as a source drive for
another 8x (at least) burner. Most can't.

Oh...If anyone was able to pick up one of the Sony Suspressa
USB CD-RWs at Staples for $79.99 and would rather have the
MP7040A, email me about a trade...

My Staples also had Acer 8x4x24s for $129.90, but I passed on those.
