Staples Black Friday Deals

i had a GREAT experience at staples on bf.

got there about 5:30-5:40 and there was already a decent line... but not even half way around the store so i figured things would be good. they came out and gave everyone little maps of the store marked with where most of the big demand items were.

they had all the hardware stuff behind the counter at the copy center... which meant you had to wait in line forever to get up there to say what you wanted. took forever and was probably that was the worst part. the waiting. finally got through the line and they were out of the dvd burner... which was the main thing i came for... but... on the way up i snagged the 128mb pny SD card for 12.94 (for my palm) and at the counter managed to get a hdd, and the 256mb usb drive. then they said an employee at a computer could order the dvd burner for me... so i get in line for that since i was staying at my grandma's house with no internet. waited forever since the site was so choked.

grabbed a pack of the dvd-r and a pack of the dvd+r and the slimline cases. finally get through that line and they're completely oos. no dvd burner for me. was pretty disappoitned then.

BUT... i later stop by circuit city simply cuz we don't have them here in iowa (i was in IL for the holidays) and low and behold... they had a HUGE stack of the I/O magic drives on a shelf. they were $20 more... but... i needed a new drive so i was willing to shell it out.

got my drive home and installed... the label on the drive itself actually said BenQ DW1620. messed around with some flashing and it now even shows up as a benq drive in windows. awesome drive too. nice and quiet too.

I think the HDD is an easy rebate so if Staples gets their easy rebate site up tomorrow as promised you should be able to submit it there.

The Staples manager at the store I went to on BF said he'd sell me the DVD burner for the same price but they'd have to order it as they sold all 6 the store was carrying. I got a message on my machine that my burner was in today so I drove there only to find that the (different) manager wouldn't approve the after rebate price and I told me I would have to come back again when the same guy was working :|

The easy rebate site is buggy for me. I'll wait until tomorrow to try again.

I was able to submit everything except the surge protector. The site refused the submission for some reason. I'll try again tomorrow.

I was very skeptical about this program when the site crashed, but I just submitted 3 rebates in about 2 minutes no problems. I always screw myself on MIRs because I simply forget about them or procrastinate until they expire. This system is awesome, I would definitely purchase at staples to use this over a regular MIR.

Once their rebate site is working again, I think all you need to do is enter your order # and zip code and it brings up your rebate - able items. I couldn't get it to work about 2 hours ago though ...

On their website, they're asking for a rebate offer number and an Easy Rebates ID number. I have the ID number, but not the rebate offer number. They have diagram of the receipt on the website, but my receipt looks nothing like the one they show. I think I got jacked lol.

Longtime lurker here. Anyways...

For some reason, the receipts I have don't have the offer numbers listed for the Teon 40 pack DVD+R, the free Zenith remote control, the AT&T free 900mhz cordless phone, and the free Techko shredder. The computers at my Staples store was messed up or something. Do you guys have the offer numbers for these items? Thanks.

There rebate system is great No UPC to mail in or forms to get lost in the mail. This is the way everybody should do rebates. Compusa, officemax, best buy, etc take notice please.

The rebate did not print out at the register for me and I can't seem to find this number on the staples easy rebate website either.

Finally figured it out. Your best bet to get a rebate offer number is to call up or physically visit a store. The staples rebate website and the call center do not have the numbers listed/available with them.

Finally got my package today. The drive is a BenQ which pleases me, also it has the retail firmware which is cool.

EasyRebates took all my items on Tuesday morning.

All in all very pleased with Staples, the CSRs have been very pleasent to work with.

Just got my drive delivered. It is an Emprex (BTC) 1016IM. I am returning this drive tomorrow. Gonna try to exchange for another IOMagic hoping that I will get a BenQ. If that turns out to be another Emprex then I'm returning it for good.

Not a lot of info on it yet but so far it can only burn about 3 types of media at 16X. The rest are 8X or less. And most 8X media will not burn at anything higher than 8X. Some even burn at less than 8X. Bleh! Piece of crap. Also, I don't even know about the rebates. Luckily i downloaded the rebate for this drive on BF. I will host it soon.

I am retracting my earlier opinion regarding Staples being the best BF store. They cancelled my order for the $10 Mini Cruzer (sub for the PNY). It was in stock when I ordered but when I checked my order status 2 days later, it said out of stock and the CSR could not help me. Now I get a crappy Emprex drive when it should have been a BenQ. Well...at least I still have a $40 w/o rebate HP drive coming so it isn't so bad.

Easy Rebates, easy rejections.

Just received received Easy Rebate Rejection e-mail yesterday.
Purchased a black ($8) and color ($19) Cannon ink cartridges and 4 X 6 paper to get rebate on purchase price of paper. Just was notified that the Rebate Receipt & Easy Rebate were rejected. Read the fine print on rebate and had to buy 2 black cartridges. Why did they give me the rebate receipt and rebate form if I was ineligible??????????

I am pissed, now I have to go back to the store to buy 2 black Cartridges and another pack of 4 X 6 paper.
Cost (2 X $8) + $13 -$13 easy rebate = $16 cost and return Paper $13 + Black Cartridge $8 = $21 refund.
Already used color cartridge. Normally it would not be worth hassle, but I have other items that I have to return to Staples.

How's this for a deal? I bought the hard drive ($114.94), the DVD recorder ($119.94), a phone ($7.94), and the PNY Attache flash drive ($19.94) for a total of $262.76 plus $2.96 tax = $265.72. Then I entered the instant coupons for the hard drive and dvd burner, which totaled $90 which brings my total down to $175.72. A few days later, I get an email saying the DVD burner is out of stock and they won't be backordering them. So I check the status of my order at Staples and it shows a total of $55.78! Not only did they deduct the price of the DVD burner, but they still let me keep the coupon discount! I even checked my credit card and it shows a charge of $55.78. I wonder how long it will take them to figure out their mistake?

I ordered the DVD burner like the poster above and also got an email later saying it was out of stock. But then this morning, my husband took a message for me from Staples saying I could have the drive for $39.94 (not sure if this was after a rebate or not) if I wanted, but I had to respond by 2:00 pm tomorrow. So I called them back and said yes, I do want the drive. But when the guy in customer service went to place the order, it showed the drives they were using as a replacement were out of stock also, so no drive! He didn't know why I had even been called since they were out of stock. I've sent an email to the order department at Staples to find out what the deal is. I don't really need the drive now as I ordered one from Newegg, but if I can get one for $39.94, I'm sure going to get it!

Staples delivered the I/OMagic DVD burner, 160GB Maxtor drive, DVD -R 40 pack and DVD +R 40 packs that I purchased online at Staples BF morning. The I/OMagic DVD burner was a Benq with the "C" version of the retail firmware. I flashed it to the latest "P" version and burned a couple of movies at 8X using my Ridata (Ricoh) 4X DVD+R's. The Kprobe scans look real good! I installed the 160GB disk drive in one of the ComputerGeek's removable enclosures and slapped it in my PC and ran some benchmarks - fast drive! Didn't have time to check out the blank DVD's or mess with the rebates. Hopefully they will go just as well

The description says it uses the new Initio chipset that supports up to 300GB / 16X DVDRW. It's not the Oxford for firewire or the Cypress for USB but I'm hoping that most of those old external drive issues have been resolved.

My receipt was blank for the FAR Techko 5-sheet paper shredder. The SKU=577319 and the OFFER NUMBER=04-87724 for the easy rebates.

The key to Staples BF is to go to the ghetto stores! I got there at 5:30 and was about 6th in line. I got everything I wanted.

I finally got my i/o magic drive. I opened it up and didn't see anything on it to tell if it is BenQ or BTC. I tried dvdinfo and all it said was "DVDRW IDE 16x". The label says it was made in China. I'm assuming that it is not a BenQ. The sticker on the face plate says to update the drivers at www.dvrupdate.com, which seems to be down. Anyone know who the manufacturer is?
