This is interesting. Although I am satisfied with the cheapass Canon scanner I have, it would be a lot more useful if it were faster. Now that USB 2.0 appears to really be here, I was wondering if it might be worthwhile to actually spend money for a scanner for the speed improvement. The Canon site implies this guy is "up to" 4X as fast as a 1.1, which isn't the improvement I hoped for, but its not bad.
I notice this also comes with Photoshop Elements. That seems like a real nice bonus.
The kicker for me might be the film scanner. I have about 500 35mm negatives I'd like to digitize with a reasonable amount of quality. Dedicicated film scanners go for a pretty good price, and I've thought about picking one up on eBay and flipping it back over there after scanning my negatives. I wonder how this unit's negative scans compare with the semi-low end film scanners around?
