This has been said before ... but STAPLES IS SUCK!!!

I've placed orders for various items three different time over the last few days and they've all been cancelled. Yet, my coupons got eaten up and I can't re-use them now.

I just spoke with a Supervisor. After many minutes of discussion with the CSR she put me through to the Supervisor upon request. The D-link player is also an Ingram Micro product and they can ship from that warehouse. I am sorry that I don't know the IM number but my D-links are being shipped from IM. They offered for me to go into the store but when we were there the stores were sold out. They also promised that they would deduct the 80 from the sales price should I not be able to get the rebate. That will probably take 50 phone calls to make happen.

This is the first time that I have had a problem with not getting an order when placed via telephone. Online your orders can often be accepted when no stock is available. You then may or may not get notification that your item was out of stock. If you call they may or may not know why your order was put on hold. It is best usually to just call and deal with the CSR's. Again, always try to find out if the item is also carried by IM with an IM number so you can check that stock. They claim your order will roll over to whoever has the item. I think we all should know that is B.S. but if there was any doubt you should be asking why your order didn't automatically roll over to IM instead of being put on backorder!

I got the MP3 three days ago and the Kodak in a separate delivery a day before that.

Maybe some of you "Staples haters" might consider that they REALLY are out of stock in some areas and not take everything Staples does personally?

I called in on the MP3 2 times and they were not available. The third time they had some and here it is.

As some of you more experienced now, Staples internet stock is updated one time daily. This is the same with their phone database. Naturally (being in service longer) the phone database is more advanced and allows decrementations on an hourly base.

So if you really want an item CALL in, as mentioned above, orders via internet may or may not get through.

It needs a huge taskforce to follow up on each "not deliverable" item so that might be the reason why they do not inform you.

We should not forget that Staples is primarily an Office Superstore, and they indeed have 99.9999999% of office items plentily available.

I know that this doesn't resolve your needs with the electronic gadgets you want, but it might help take off some of the expectations.

And I agree that if an item is CONFIRMED, it should be so.

But all in all lets face it: no other store gives us this rebate system with sooo much $$'s off.
And I prefer this imperfect system to a visible computerized one, that definetly would issue personal coupon codes then.

oh... maybe i should have added, but with their price matching policy and over-abundant supply of coupons, doesn't mean i won't be shopping there...

after all, a deal is a deal is a deal...

still, if i could only get my hands on one of those free 56x drives...

Yes Sheba, you can buy just ONE of the Windows ME products and buy as many of the OTHER specials as you like... although there may be quantity limits per item. I pre-ordered WIN ME at Staples, got the free software they included, plus purchased the Labtec Headphones/mic (free after $10 rebate), the McAfee VirusScan\Firewall bundle (free after $39 rebate). I received a free "on the spot" copy of Canon's Office template software just for depositing $10 on WIN ME before in was allowed to be sold on the 14th. When it's all said and done, I'll have gotten quite a bit of software\hardware for around $55. Not bad........

YOu may be missing my point. You are told that they are out of an item in your area. My local area happens to be the East Coast which surprised me as it is not local. You are told that if anything was available to send to you that the system would automatically pull it up. You say, OH REALLY???? Can you please check with Ingram Micro. They say, if it were available it would have shown up. You say, OH REALLY -well why don't you check this IM number.

Suddenly, there is product to ship to you. YOu say, well why didn't this show up before because you said it would show up if product is available. They say,Uhhhhh, I don't know.

The point is, don't trust that the system is going to take care of you. Take care of yourself and give them the data to input. I also think they know darn well that the D-link Mp3 players are available from Ingram Micro. They are well aware of this saga that happened on the MP3 players. My hunch is they don't offer it to you until you really start questioning them, etc.

If you call right now to order and you had that IM number you might get the player . I know I did this afternoon without the IM number.
