Staples: Free Maxtor Controller Card Back!!

Heya guys, this is my first real contribution to all the people who have posted some of the best deals I've ever found.

Just went to staples for an internal floppy drive (got walmrt its 19.95 staples its 39 something) and found that their controller cards back in stock!

Heres the skinny to get it:

1) Purchase Maxtor 40GB or above
2) Purchase the Maxtor Controller Card (66/100 udma)
3) This will put you on free delivery, also put in the discount codes (sorry its late 4am here) and then wait for delivery.
4) Once you have the package in hand, fill the rebate info, make a copy of the receipt, plus whatever else they want (UPC too)
5) Go to staples, give the CS some advil, and pricematch.


For people who already bought a 40gb or above drive recently (2 weeks or less). Go back tell them you want the controller card but it wasn't in stock now it is, let them to the re-ring the register, add the controller card and fork over the $50+tax. Mail rebate follow step 4.

I talked to the manager here in Missouri, he's assured me its ok, and thats what I'm doing tomorrow.

It would be great if you could be more specific about some things though.

Are you talking about an IDE controller card?

Under "3) you write "..put in the discount codes (sorry its late 4am here).." . What has the late time have to do with the discount codes? Do they only work at certain times?

To WHOM should one pricematch under "5)"??
The purchasing should be from Staples I presume.

Could you give some SKU#'s here?

And finally : Do I have to purchase a Maxtor HD to get a controller card free???

He seems to have been around here as he stated and should know that he cannot post any such coupon. I think he is mentioning other "discount codes" as he says.
Anyhow, he went to bed probably, maybe tomorrow he will enlighten us with facts after he went and did what he wanted to do.

Ok, I think this is what he's talking about. Go to Staples and pickup a pricematched & couponed Maxtor 40GB+ HD & ATA/100 controller card with free shipping (pricematch to the store of your choice). Then go to the Maxtor site and look under promotions. They have a $50.00 rebate if you buy a 40GB+ HD and controller card. They also have a similar rebate for external storage and a 1394 card.

Official Rules:
Maxtor Ultra ATA/100 PCI Adapter Card purchased in combination with a Maxtor hard drive. Offer good on products purchased between September 24, 2000 & January 27, 2001. Where's the best pricematch for this item? It's $179 at Staples.com (Maxtor 40GB), but I assume that there's somewhere cheaper? I've not found it at Circuitcity.com, Bestbuy.com or CompUSA.com.

So this is a 5400 rpm drive? Blech -- too slow.

Shouldn't be, on pricewatch it was adverted as 7200RPM, I got two HDDs so far, matter of fact where I bought mine from they charged me 159.94 (originally 179.95) for a 40GB 7200Rpm hdd.
