anyone know what kind of speeds you can get if you hook this up to a usb 1.1 port? does it include software for macOS?

edit: a simple click on the link to the pacific digital website answered both of my questions: it is a 4x4x8 drive through usb 1.1, and does not look like it includes mac software (system requirements only list windows environments).

Which brings up another question: If I can get a copy of Toast or some other mac burning software, this drive should work on a mac, correct?

AFAIK best speeds you can get on usb 1.1 for cdr is about 4x. not sure about read speeds...

Not sure, I got one, just to keep a Lite-On drive, and also add a USB2 (2port) card to my system.

Toast 5 (? whatever the newest version is) works with it. OSX and iTunes won't recognize it natively though but it won't recognize my Lite-on either so?@not an isolated incident.

The ones they had earlier are different, 32x16x48x instead of the 32x10x40x. They had a Cyberdrive in there that could write up to 99:99, not sure what in these ones though.

I bought three ones a few months ago when they were $50 a piece, ripped out the drive and sold them for $40 each on ebay. Got a USB2.0 enclosure and card for $10, not a bad deal.

Anyone who had one of these last time able to open it and replace the drive with something else? How do I open it??

Very carefully.

Actually it's pretty easy to open, the only screw there is is the one that is underneath the warranty label on the underside of the enclosure. Once you get that out, use a flathead screwdriver and pry the black and the silver parts apart, they'll slide off with a bit of force. The sides have these little clippy things but there is no way you'll be able to disassemble it without breaking at least one of them off.
