Both CompUSA and Staples have the TDK AID-840BX 8x DVD±R/±RW available with a $40 mail-in rebate. CompUSA currently has the TDK on sale for $188.99 before rebate ($249.99 - 10% instant rebate - $40.00 instant savings = $188.99). Staples has the drive for $249.98 with $40.00 through 2/29/04. Deal requires a pricematch and $30 coupon at Staples, so this is probably best done as a purchase and return for pricematch where the $30 coupon AND $40.00 rebate combination is less likely to draw attention....

As usual, since this involves Staples, so YMMV!

Yeah, I got confused for a second too. But CompUSA is offering another 10% off of any single item between 1/18 and 1/19.

The 10% off any one item is available both online and in-store. Online the discount will be taken from the original price before the $40 instant rebate. In-store the coupon is on page 17 of CompUSA's weekly sales flyer.

The 10%-coupon results in a savings of $21.00 (209.99 x .10 = 20.999). So you first subtract the 10% , then the $40 instant rebate, which results in $188.99 before rebate....

It amounts to the difference in prices (to bring it down to the actual pm price you'd pay) plus 10% of that difference
