I have a question for those who have gotten the lite-on version of the drive.. have you tried using it in Clone-CD, if so were there any problems. Also what does the device show up as under device manager. Im just curious since I'm about to head out to staples. Thanks

Just curious since place like CC has multiple rebates on a product all the time. For them it's the norm to have multiple rebates (see the thread on 24x TDK writer which has 2 rebates listed on the product page).

My trip and try at getting the PD 24x for 31AR did not work, in fact, I walked out of the store with it for 109, soon to be - the 30 MIR for 79. If someone could shoot me a pm with the 20 off 100 coupon....or a way to get local staples managers past the fact that the IL store that the receipt is from is like 1.5k miles away. Or a way to order it online for instore pickup, I just wanna get a better deal than I'm currrently getting, and I'm a newbie. It'd be much appreciated. >>

<< Read 'em and weep guys... Printed out Tanner's receipt and Sam's Club receipt, went into staples, showed them (Cashier and manager) both the print outs and they said "But this is in Illinois." Retaliated with my printout of sam's club stores (12 of 'em) saying "I called the one in blah blah this morning and they said they had 1 left." They didn't even bother to pick up the telephone and call sam's club, they just gave it to me. So I paid $50.78 AFTER TAX!! minus the $10 off $30 coupon and minus the $30 rebate = $20.78... I bought this drive today from staples.com along with the tax promtions(free after rebate) put my total a little over $200 and used a $40 off coupon.
They would not let me have the free cd's with the drive the csr told me that because I used the $40 off $200 coupon that I could not use the other one.
My next cost after rebates before price match will be around $40.

Argh tried 2 more staples store and a no-go... I got extremely lucky on the first try... One store did the PM by doing this.... it was $109, they pm'd to $86 so after the $30 rebate it will be sam's club's price which is $56... That's their policy on the website and for local stores Really !#@#$%... In another staples store... The manager told me that they don't pm clearance items, which is also written on the staples site... For all of you who didn't know, now you know *sigh...

Just went to staples, plenty of PD 24x10x40's in stock but they wouldn't price match it for me -- said that the PM store had to be within a 50 mile radius and they called all of the local Sam's Clubs. This is at Staples Henrietta, Rochester NY. Good luck to the rest of you.

I got in on this deal too in Tulsa...Ending price was $55.69 and they scrambled to get a rebate for me and some free 10pack of IBM CDRs that was included with the deal in the paper so after the rebate its a $25.69 24x10x40 CDRW! Awesome deal, thx for posting Tanner! I'll be back @ that same staples tomorrow for one more. I tried @ a diff staples in town but they cought the origin of the reciept in IL and said that they only do local deals...They called up the Sam's Club in town, but they didn't have any...The other store had plenty of 'em though...

My local Staples have been very good to me about price matching every web page I print out and carry in (of course, I haven't tried any of those flaky sites). This IS the usual retail philosophy, but in MY local Staples the sign reads (paraphrasing here)
"If you find a lower price anywhere we will beat it"

One would think this would cover both warehouse stores and the issue of whether or not the store is local !

I got excited about this...went to my staples and they were going to pricematch it, then they had to call the Illinios Sams Club store to see if it was in stock and for this price, which it is not, so, tons of wasted time... I was pissed.

sorry...I just get all Xcited when a store boasts and boasts about their Pricematching then the Exclude EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN! I think there's probably some statement in their policy that says if it's composed of electrons, neutrons, or protons then it is no good under the Staples Price Matching Policy! BLAH! WHAT A SCHEME!

Well, I installed it and it seems to work fine. Course, this is my first cdrw, so I don't know what's what. Early, someone said the bundled software -- NTI CD-Maker -- was junk.
What's better and where do you get it?
Also, I just want to test out the drive and make sure it's not flawed. What can I do to put it through some paces -- and where can I find stepbystep instructions for same.
I'm kind of an addlepate when it comes to these things.

I got turned down at 2 staples . . one that I am "banned from" (having to do with the Sprint phones last January) and another one, where the manager just told me that he wouldn't price match an "out of town store" where the PM policy I showed him said "United States", to which he replied "I won't debate this with you."

Oh well. If anyone managed to get this done in NYC please PM me.
