I thought Staples wouldnt do a PM and let you use a coupon at the same time? The last deal I tried (the Plex 24X a week or so ago), they (online) told me and a few others that. Maybe its easier to do in the stores.?
Is there another $10 off $30 coupon?

Also is this drive (if you get the Lite On) better than the TDK 24X (who makes it?)?

holy $h!t....thats an insane deal if it works....ill just have to go to the staples down the street from me (3min walk or 20 sec drive...i know, you envy me ).....this is one of the best deals ive seen on here in a long time....maybe better than the $99 ti200 bb deal...thanks for the heads up guys!!! ill let u know how it goes!!!

Just got back from Staples! It WORKED!

Got the drive and the CD-Rs, brought them to the cashier, and showed her the recipts. She called for the manager to authorize, and of course its the evil one who has shot me down before. He makes a stupid comment like, "Illinios? Long way to drive for a deal..." and then authorizes it! After he leaves, I hand the cashier the $10 of $30 coupon, and she punches in the code!!! $44.82 out the door! After the rebate comes back, its only $14.82!!! Now all I need to do is resell the CD-Rs!

I think this could save everyone in California!!! Scans in a minute...

EDIT: BTW, it was a Lite-On! Look for SMART-Burn, they have both types...

just got back from my local Staples and the deal went through like clockwork. the manager was nice and even remembered talking on the phone with me about directions. He punched it up and gave me the 110% pricematch. One of the cashiers even said wow you know how to bargain hunt. Drive is a lite on 24102B. Great Deal, thanks everyone.

I have a quick question though, i won't be able to install this thing until i get back up to school. Out of curiosity, what is displayed under device manager and Clone CD with this drive. Does it show up as lite on. Also where do you go for Firmware updates. Thanks for the help

If you look around, you will find it. You may have to look at other, non-AT, sites. However, I believe that the $10 off $30 expires today (07JAN02).

a friend and I tried to do this here in southeastern PA yesterday with no luckat 3 different staples.
Sams in this area is sold out of this burner, or if they do have it in stock it's $99.00.

I just did this twice. One for me and one for my friend. (NOT to sell on ebay!) The manager was a bit skeptical at first but I just showed the Sam's Club reciept and the manager PM'd it for me no problem. I even used the $10 off $30. This was at the Hawthorne Blvd Torrance Staples, if anyone'd like to know.

After lurking here for quit a while I felt I had to post . . .The PM worked like a charm at the Lenox store in Atlanta, GA. After some initial resistance by the manager (He said he felt like he was being robbed), he agreed to PM the drive to Sam's for both my buddy and I. However, we were not able to use the $10 off coupon, but with a $30 rebate and a slight chance for another $20 rebate this is one hot deal. Thanks Tanner!

No go at my local staples (Columbus, OH). They would not match the Illinois receipt AND said that I would need the flyer that they matched the price to. Does anyone know if there are any local retailers in Columbus that have this any cheaper? Also, does Staples no longer price match online prices?

Struck out in Durham, NC. The manager at the North Duke Street store made me wait like a half hour and then told me the Sam's in Raleigh had the drive at $109. Then he said he wouldn't have price matched it anyway because it was too low. Apparently, Staples only price matches when it's convenient.

Has anyone who got a Lite-on had a package with the sticker "New Buffer Underrun Technology?" Or is that pretty much a sign that it is the Mitsumi drive instead? I'm debating whether or not to open the shrink wrap, as (I think I do anyway ) I much prefer the Lite-on drive.

Anyone else have a sure way of telling before opening?

just got back from staples. They were all out of the PD Burners, and I asked about the price matching and they said they would do it no problem. Manager said to check back in a day or 2 incase they get another shipment.
