I think the only ship I still want is the long-range fighter that was in the last set of ships we voted on. Anything else and I will get in game (well maybe upgrade to a variant on one or two of the ones I already have). I cant wait to jump into the game after the latest updates (but rebuilding my computer due to disk array upgrade... almost done copying tye last 1.5tb to the new array and then I have to switch the drive letters around and hope it all works).

No more for me either (although that bulldog does look interesting). In fact I need to shed a few ships via the grey market. Most once I offload those I'll consider getting something else.

I got my Aurora LN. It has a new paint job and the missiles are now black. I'm set until I earn my way to a Freelancer. Although that information delivery ship (Herald) looks.....interesting.

Hey current backers, don't forget to go into your hangars before Jan 5th to "activate" your 2014 Holiday wreath.

So to find it, when you start in your hangar, turn around and look up (it's on the second level). Nice big wreath with flashing lights. Looks nice (and I'm running graphics at the lowest setting since that's all my machine can currently handle).

Thanks for the heads up.

Got a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick for Christmas, I'm looking forward to trying it out in Star Citizen.

I haven't logged in since 1.0's release as I'm at families for the holidays but people seem to be really happy with the new control scheme in 1.0 for joy and hotas users. Once you get it all hooked up report back and tell us what you think... please

Not even close. Though the Arena Commander module is out, so you can fly some ships with combat.

For clarification.....

Star Citizen is scheduled for release in 2016
Squadron 42 (the single player campaign released in chapters which will help "establish" you character in SC) might see the first few chapters released at the end of 2015.

SC is being constructed in "modules". Right now the hangar module and arena commander module have been released and are "playable".

Second level? Does the asteroid have a second level?

Anybody else having trouble getting the Arena Commander module to launch?

I just backed yesterday and downloaded, and I can get into the hangar, but when I try to launch the Arena module it just stalls on the loading screen indefinitely.

Did some searching this morning but couldn't locate any fix / reason for this.

1) Make sure you have an Arena Commander pass ($5)....not all game packages come with it....it must be purchased separately.

2) If you do have a pass, note that it does take forever (like several minutes) to load/run (at least on my machine....I've got the minimum 8GB ram required).

I bought the Arena Starter Package, so I should be good there, but I'll give it a go on waiting longer.

I think mine took 5 minutes to boot the first time. Maybe two minutes or three after that. Animations freeze during loading too so don't freak out.

Agreed. And a bit dark too. Cracks me up that in SC we have this awesome technology (lasers, ships, etc.)....but no enough technology to light up a store, city, etc. Everything is so "dark".

Still very awesome trailer....thanks for sharing.
And still I'm sure ships that don't auto-track and target enemy ships, forcing you to manually aim.

The soundtrack for that trailer was excellent.

Figured it out. I hadn't placed my ship in the hangar in the "My RSI" hangar configuration.

Dogfighting is a blast (and a good bit difficult).

I think the thing that's really going to set this game apart from other games of this type is how it operates as a first-person, properly scaled world. Ships are not just static objects where you click on them and load a different view. I was also surprised at how good the hangar looked (some very nice texture work) despite just being a early build beta module.

The views from the cockpit are also very nice.

I haven't played the arena module in a few months, waiting for when I can finally test drive(fly?) my Freelancer DUR. The small ships are fine to mess around with, but I want to know how the bigger ships feel.

Note that you will be able to customize your hangar (actually, you already can if you're willing to spend the credits - you can buy posters, aquarium, fish, a buggy to drive around in....).

I agree: the attention to detail in ALL things in this game is just beautiful.

I gave Arena Commander a try last night and was surprised that it worked - not only did it work, I was able to fly my Aurora LN. Not sure why I could do that as I don't have an AC pass (I was waiting until my Aurora LN was live). But I could. And wow was that fun. I played with an xbox 360 controller and the controllers were infinitely better than the last time I tried (during one of the 'free' AC test weeks). I suck. But I was actually able to shoot down two Vanduul before my ship overheated and then I pretty much couldn't do anything. I'm sure there is some type of heat/power management I should be doing.....

Props to CIG for making a HUGE leap from AC 0.90 to AC 1.0!
