I'm in $480ish with 3 ships and a few digital/physical add-ons. Unless something truly amazing pops up all further funding put toward this game will be for hardware to actually run it.

Also for anyone who missed out on the Super Hornet it looks like they've given into demand and it will be up for sale along with the Gladiator and Retaliator this weekend. I don't know if it will be just the ship or also the add-on.

Hopefully the Super Hornet bit is an add-on And I get to keep my LTI on my hornet.

I was looking at total funds raised versus the number of donators and it looks like the average is $90 donated per person. That's the average. I am thinking probably the mode is bit lower as larger majority are probably closer to $50 with more than a few individuals in the thousands to up the average spent per person.

I got $125 in right now myself. I'm debating on if I want to spend any more or not. If the super hornet addon comes out again this weekend I'll get it if it's not outrageous in price.

Have a Cutlass, may spring for the Starfarer Monday. Having a hauler was always beneficial in Eve, I can't see it not being similar in SC. You might see a PM from me Sith, not interested in paying the new backer tax.

I am sitting on a Cutlass only as well and I'm trying to figure out what other ship (if any) I want to add on. The options are most likely between the Freelancer and Starfarer, with the Banu Merchantman and Constellation being on the outside, unless the Banu is reasonably priced. We have obviously not heard much of anything about the Banu, but it sounds pretty cool.

I'm not pleased that the Starfarer is coming out so closely (the 25th) to when the Banu will likely be made available (the 26th). I am thinking I might want one of the two, but definitely not both. So, if I buy the Starfarer, it will be very tight time-wise to melt it to then spend on the Banu ship when it is available so closely to the 24-hour melt window.

I'm partially leaning toward just adding the Freelancer and being happy with having two of the most versatile 2-seater ships that can be comfortably run by a single pilot. Also, I might want to spec out the Freelancer as an explorer in the early game as it might help me get to name something after myself!

Don't really understand the people rushing to buy M50 or the 350R to use as racers. It's not like racing is going to be a deadly business with the frequent exploding of your ship...

I'm getting the Starfarer without a doubt, the other three I want to see are the Caterpillar, Retaliator, and Gladiator.

Yeah, I agree with you on the "Starfarer vs anything new" will be interesting and hard to decide. I know for a fact that I want the Starfarer, as I want to use it to collect gas so I can make/process my own fuel. But you never know what that new thing might be. I know I will not be picking up an Idris-P, as I don't see me playing with that many people all the time, and if I do join a guild/corp/militia, I have no problems being useful as either a gunner or escort of the people in other Idrises that we might have.

I think you may be making assumptions on that. Lore wise, they are saying it is very dangerous, which I suspect to mean that the races will be much more like something out of Firefly, or similar, where there are sections of the race where officials can not see exactly what is going on, and where certain "illegal" actions might occur such as someone "bumping" someone else into an asteroid. I also highly suspect that many of the courses themselves are through very dangerous environments with high potential for ship damage from collisions.

I'd rather see the entire budget put toward an even higher quality, more polished core game, rather than losing focus with a laundry list of features. A perfect example is ground combat. Anything less than a AAA shooter will be disappointing to a lot of people and an easy target for critics. Worst case scenario: think Star Trek Online ground combat. Why not just make the best space combat game possible without compromise and without all the tacked-on extras?

Take out the ground combat and it would be just another space sim. The fact that it is more than just a space sim makes it much more interesting. Im much more interested in a game that has all the things I like instead of having to switch to a different game when I feel like doing something different. The more they add to this game the better it will be. Plus it makes it much more "immersive" to use a cliche gaming word. In real life I dont just drive a car, I dont just go to work, I do many different things. Im looking forward to this game being a living breathing world, not just a space sim. Whether they actually pull it off or thats what the game ends up being only time will tell, but thats what Im hoping for.

If I just want to play a space sim I can reinstall X-wing. >.<

I have put $0 into it. Once it's on Steam for < 20 bucks I will buy unless it gets bad reviews.

I want an M50 for smuggling/blockade running. Fastest ship available, max out the engines, throw in some stealth upgrades and 3 tons of valuable black market goods, and throw on some 80s hair metal.

Why is there no sale on the Freelancer? It's been like the ONLY possible other ship I would consider buying at this point.

*hrmph*

The ships really aren't on sale, just for sale. If you want a Freelancer I'd buy it before LTI runs out or earn it once the game comes out. Its not going to get any cheaper.

For those trying to decide between a Starfarer or a Banu Merchantman, I'd buy the Starfarer as early in the sale day as possible so that you have plenty of time for the 24hr melt restriction timer to expire if you wish to switch.

I get that, I meant "sale" as in "special", packaged, something cool, different, variant about it. I loves playing Privateer/Freelancer as ... well ... a freelancer trader. Wouldn't mind having a capable ship fitting of the role.

They said that variants will be available at some point, but just not now. However, those variants will be available as an upgrade option just like all previous ones have been, and that you can apply the upgrade to an existing ship that has LTI and it will keep the LTI.

Well I decided to pick up a Freelancer and skip some of the other games being released. So I'll play what I have now! Unless there's a sale... :sneaky:

+1 for SithSolo1. I traded a Constellation and an Aurora to get a Rear Admiral LTI package. I'm happy even if my wallet is crying

I can't wait for the Retaliator! Thinking of melting my Constellation for it. As far as I can tell it's going to be able to carry a metric ton of missiles compared to other ships, which should lead to much fun.

Wow, 2015 release date? Are you guys playing with your hangar module thingies?

Supposedly Q1 2015 as of right now, but MP dogfighting arrives this December, another module (Planetside or FPS?) early-ish next near, then it hits alpha around June/July and goes into beta around August which Chris expects to essentially be the final game. It's a ways out, but I've waited longer for less.

I think there's too much worry about PvP, Chris has been pretty adamant about preventing EVE style griefing. He wants a PvP element, but he doesn't want it to be burdensome to the point of madness. I think there will be plenty of safety in lawful space for you to get everything figured out, get some good ships upgraded, and find some allies before you need to venture out.

There are a couple hacks to the hanger module that lets you fly one or two of the ships. But, really right now the only thing you can really do is just walk around in your hanger. Some of the ships are available in the hanger, but not all of them. They had been releasing patches and updates almost weekly for a while there, but stopped just recently as they are making the big push for the dogfighting module.

Basically, all of this is currently pre-alpha builds. Their system is designed to be modular, so that as they complete a section and have it good enough that they want to start getting more eyes/hands on it, they will release that module to the backers so they can start giving more feedback, find bugs, errors, etc. (in other words kick the tires in ways the devs have not yet thought of and see what breaks). While the game itself won't be out until 2015, we should be dogfighting before the end of this year, or within just a couple weeks of next. The early experience may very well be worth it, since the game is skill/twitch based, and not based on some kind of leveling system. The sooner you are flying, the better you will be...

I've spent too much on this game so I've been avoiding looking at the website lately. Probably a good thing as I think I would have picked up a Superhornet.

I have:

Aurora LX
Freelancer
Retaliator

Alpha is scheduled for "Early 2014".

I'd consider buying something bigger than my Aurora LX if I didn't just buy a car this week. I'd prefer to HAVE a LTI Freelancer in my hanger, but I'll just roll with my Aurora when the game comes out and play it the hardcore way.

Honestly unless in-game insurance is massively expensive I think LTI is a bit overblown.

Just make sure your insurance is current before taking a ship out of the hangar, and you're good.
