Played the game finally (on a friend's account.) He had a fighter of some kind, and the Aurora (he was an early backer.)

A couple reactions: Gameplay with a mouse...not that good. Locked vs unlocked is interesting though. The main gun on the fighter was the only gun worth anything. The wing guns (which he had gimballed) were totally worthless.

SLI...well, 2x670s at 1080p did *awful*. Walking through the hanger was barely playable with a lot of stuttering (but it would hit up to 80FPS too...)

I'd consider this game, I think.

But really you havent played the game. Thats just a little lobby shooter they setup for testing and will be used in the future for PVP.

I backed the game but dont think Im going to end up liking it too much.

The game crams too much PVE down your throat. And so far the only PVP Ive heard about, other than their lobby shooter, is pirating and bounty hunting. Though there are people that say there will be more but I dont count on anything unless a dev says it and even then it isnt a guarantee.

But if you like space sims and are a hardcore PVE player you should love it.

Sure, but interesting to play through the flight mechanics. Neat, and I'm interested. Got an update mail about Star Marine today...

The terrible performance in the Hanger has been something they've talked about before. They know it's an issue. When they get the new zone and instancing system in Live it should get much better. As it is now, if you're in your hanger it's rendering every ship you have including some of the internals. Which, needless to say isn't necessary at all.

Another thing to keep in mind with running these modules - driver updates will likely make significant performance gains when this game is closer to release.

I'm still on 347.52, because the last couple of driver updates from Nvidia have completely destroyed my performance in the hangar. Horrible stuttering, a blurred line in the middle of the screen, etc...

Happy to be here, I have in the last month further reduced my fleet (sold 4 ships) and I am down to the ones I intend to keep for myself. A Origin Jumpworks 315p, Origin Jumpworks 325a & a Aegis Dynamics Retaliator. I have made a profit from the ships I bought and may buy a cargo hauler or just use the cash to buy a SC branded HOTAS to replace my Warthog.

As for goals... Have fun. That's my primary goal in all games. Maybe we should try and obtain a station/planet in game eventually. It might even be nice to have a second Organisation focused on piracy.

Nice. Looking forward to moving to Win10 myself but waiting till the new rig is assembled. Which means waiting till Skylake is released. Hopefully have the thing ready to go and just the way I want it not too long prior to the Star Marine mod dropping.

Just a reminder to all, you can be a member of multiple Orgs at the same time. So if you want to run with AT folks but also have a more serious group you belong to, or a small group of friends, or whatever nothing is precluding one from doing both.

I'm at 3 Orgs right now, and I haven't gone looking for any of them since it's waaay too early to be worrying about it. My other two are luxury ship oriented.
