I mean, the show is written like it was interfered with by the idiots who thought CBS could carry a streaming service with its content, alone...
Fine, but what you're saying is like if the grocery store doesn't improve the quality of its food, you're going to stop shoplifting there. I'm sure it will hurt their feelings tremendously.

That came across my mind while watching Episode 3, made we wonder why? Considering this is a prequel of everything in Star Trek IIRC, tech in not present in ST-TOS shouldn't be possible in ST-D.

Of course you'll need a Tardigrade to navigate. Maybe it's extinct in the future. So without it, the spores in which the Tardigrade feeds on is useless.

I think it is no longer used because what they are doing here goes against what the federation stands for.
They force a living entity against its will to do their bidding and hurting it in the process.
It will probably die within a few episodes because of the somewhat dark nature of the series so far.
But that might fit in a star trek time line where the federation is still developing.
Likely this is just abandoned tech in future timelines of star trek just as genetic research to artificially create enhanced humans (Khan Noonien Singh).
The captain is a war mongerer. This will obviously will result in another mutiny against the captain.
This is like black ops or separate independent organisations doing whatever they deem necessary for the federation.

1. No, you're terrible at analogies
2. I never said my actions would 'hurt their feelings.' I was just saying I wasn't going to waste my time not paying for the show. I'd be pretty pissed if I actually paid for this idiotic piece of tripe.

Also, the entire plot device of having a mining colony responsible for 40% of your dilithium be so lightly defended that a small group of birds of prey can win orbit superiority was IDIOTIC! A planet of that strategic importance would have had a major starbase in orbit with an entire fleet of the best federation ships defending it, plus major point defenses. Episode 4 lost me. I'm probs going to just stop pirating this show altogether. I actively hope it fails and takes CBS's stupid streaming service with it.
So many problems, so little time. STD is definitely the Transformers of the Trek universe.

Hmm, a little quick with the insulting verbiage, there. Sorry if you were offended by my take on your post, but I'll have to stand by my impression that it seems funny that you are mentioning stopping pirating the show as something significant, and now you're complaining about the time wasted pirating the show. Clearly you take your pirating seriously, but I am still kind of chuckling about it. Anyway, no real harm meant. I agree with some of your criticisms of the show.

This, to me, is reminiscent of the ship Riker came from in TNG, which could cloak (phase shifting), but for reasons of piece (or something like that) Starfleet vowed never to use it. Since we are before all that, perhaps they are going to play the same game with Discovery.

http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Phasing_cloaking_device

peace with the romulans. treaty of (i want to say) algeron (but may not be right) . the federation agreed never to develop cloaking tech. why they borrowed one from the romulans for the dominion war. real reason obv it was a one shot story and the phasing cloak would be way to powerful in ds9

So I watched all four episodes and it's like Michal Bay doing CSI in space.

What was even more stupid was that the nearest ships were over 80 hours away. To have it lightly defended was moronic. To not have any ships in range for days in case of attack means it was basically undefended.

The klingons don't even need the ship with the cloak. How the hell is it they haven't bashed the Feds into the ground by this point?

They didn't need defending from nearby ships since they had shielding that could withhold a massive Klingon attack for 6+ hours. A regular attack would have taken months to break into their shields probably...lol

There are some stupid decisions being made in this Trek, but I still like it. It's funny how the Orville is more Trek than DSC though.

So, how are the viewership numbers for this show?

Honestly, I hope that they're horrible. The networks need to learn that you can't force consumers to sign up for an streaming service that only has one decent show on it.

They need to stop with the Klingon scenes, its just embarrassing. The verbal language, the way they look, and maybe worst of all the simplicity of the subtitles just make me cringe. I'm tempted to skip past those scenes every time.

Getting rid of Landry, no matter how stupid it was, is a step in the right direction though! Terrible actress and her characters writing just made it worse.

Yeah, seriously. "I'm going to let out this beast that killed 12 armed klingons so I can clip its toenails so you can turn it into a weapon." The most seriously WTF death I've seen in trek since Tasha Yar.

I'm thinking that the CGI graphics budget for the Tardigrade and the jumps cost too much so they have to pare back using the show script as cover to refocus on the crew relationships. I still like the Orville better.

Toward the beginning, they very clearly said Starfleet is making it a priority to find the beasts, yet, they just let the one they had go?
Also, just how did he get hooked up to the nipple interface anyway?

How did the captain get captured in the first place?

How did they find the prison ship?

Why isn't the captain in some deep underground prison with shilding?

Why not keep the bug in the fungus farm?

Don't forget about those escape ships. Clearly, they knew how to fly them, and work the shields and everything.
Why didn't the big E fire on the other ships anyway?
So many plot holes....

It is not a plot hole if it is bigger than the plot :awe:

If the Klingons would at least talk at normal speed it wouldn't be half as annoying. Also the escape scene on the prison ship was horrible. Klingons are supposed to be very strong and tough warriors yet 2 humans that have been locked up and beaten up a few days still have enough strength to take them out. And while the guns immediately disintegrate any of the minor Klingons on the way out (and not just the part hit but all of them) it hardly does anything to the one where he hit the head.

why should you, a freeloader, have any say in what content is made?

A few thoughts.

I don't get why they blame Michael Burnham for the war. I don't see how her actions contributed to it. She mutinied and was responsible for a raid that led to the death of her captain and the Klingon responsible for the war. But I don't see how she started it. It would have started with or without her. Even if Captain Georgiou had listened to her and opened fire first, I believe the outcome would have been the same. A battle would have resulted, and then a war.

Regarding the last episode, I found myself wondering what would have happened if this was a TNG episode. Picard probably would have refused outright to use the creature, while Riker might have tried to persuade him it was for the greater good. Geordi would have come up with a solution that enabled them to rescue the VIP without harming the creature.

I am not for or against a black female main character or the first openly gay couple on Star Trek. But I feel it is getting to stunt casting levels, like STD is almost stereotyping progressive characters in an attempt to be progressive and liberal. Next thing they will have a transgender Borg or something like that, not because it is required for the story but because they want to be "cool" and "hip".
