I don't think so. My understanding is that Voq, who had albinism, was somehow transformed into Ash Tyler, and so would not be appearing in S02 in his original form.

Star trek is improving. For apparent reason i start to enjoy it more.

Season 1 was definitely on the dark side. This season just seems more "Trek like." I'm glad to be wrong about them resurrecting Lorca in some way.

I like Pike. I also like Section 13. I like the Red Angel plot. So far Season 2 is cool, except for the bringing back the doctor part.

That was a little odd, but I have a feeling why it was done. Other than the Stamets/Culber relationship, from a sexual standpoint the Star Trek future was looking too much like the present. Bringing Dr. Culber back was the easiest choice to maintain inclusivity and reflect the zeitgeist, imo.

I don't have a problem with 'why' as much as 'how'. Guess we'll see what they do with it.

The squid that attacked the shuttle and extended arms inside to grab the crew looked and behaved like the squidi in the Matrix. When Spock was giving his account of the future the giant one looked just like the Reapers in the game Mass Effect. Plagiarism anyone?

also, Cmdr Airiam is alive, sort of.

the person who played her last season (sara mitich) took over her post on the bridge this season as Lt Nilsson.
kinda odd since we didn't know what Airiam looked like under her robotic appearance.
they could have just used the same person without replacing the actress in season2?

or would that be too similar to Dr Who, where an extra in the previous season became the new Dr Who the next season?

S02 is leaps and bounds more engaging, entertaining, and more in line with the theme of the Star Trek universe, imo. It's almost as if S01 and S02 are entirely different shows, albeit with many of the same characters.

Issue I have is do we really need to do the same old time travel and AI that so many other sci-fi shows do?

Sure star trek has done some time travel episodes in the various series they have but many were up there with horrible holodeck episodes for the ones I don't watch when they air again and one can only hope they don't do what a lot of shows do and simply fix everything in the last episode of the season with a quick time travel fix.

They have so many alpha quadrant races they could deal with although with how much people hated what they did with the klingons I wonder if the writers were forbidden with messing around like that again and instead had to focus on a completely different storyline otherwise we might have purple romulans with 4 arms.

That whole death of that one android thing would have been a whole lot more compelling if they'd actually given her some character interaction/development in the rest of the 2 seasons. Sure, we've seen her wandering around, but that is it. Then all the sudden we are supposed to care she dies. I didn't.

Either control was already in the process of going rogue and this sped things up or possibly when it infected the robot chick she transferred it there and it started the revolt.

When it was plugged into the shuttle crafts computer was when it seemed to start.

Actually come to think of it the video of spock killing the people was faked by control they pointed out previously so if anything it's been around for awhile now causing trouble and it's shown itself as it wants the data they got from the sphere.

We have only seen the videos so who knows even if they were actually killed as all we saw was just the video and people were going off that.

but the plot holes are really getting to me.
where did the Mom get the time crystal from?
how did she successfully control it? why doesn't anyone else know about it?

Klingons have time crystals but they decided long ago to stop trying to use it because it was too dangerous?

and a human filled with Control nanites can survive several shots from a phaser. why didn't he just rush her instead of avoiding those shots?
also, why didn't she set her phaser to continuous beam instead of firing shots like bullets????

They talked about it in the previous episode where they showed them working on the suit when the klingons came for it because it was stolen from them and they had tracked it.

These are JJ Abrams phasers that shoot like a regular gun. Wide beam would've got the entirety of them in a single shot.

I signed up for a one week trial of CBS All Access so I could watch a few of the new Twilight Zone episodes, and ended up watching the first season of Star Trek Discovery as well.

I'm not sure which of these things about the show bugs me more:

• That it's behind a paywall, even though most CBS shows are available for free on-air.
• That the Discovery basically has a magic super drive that can take it anywhere instantly, yet this technology never even got a mention during the Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, or Voyager episodes that proceeded it in the Star Trek timeline. You would have thought that Voyager of all shows would have at least mentioned it, considering that they were stuck on the other side of the galaxy and had a lot of free time on their hands to experiment with faster propulsion methods.
• That the show has Star Trek in the name, but feels more like Battlestar Galactica than anything Star Trek. Compared to any other Star Trek show (even Deep Space Nine) it's too dark and pessimistic and focuses on fast paced action instead of a story that really makes you think.
• That I still kinda like the show anyway, despite it's numerous faults I still like The Orville better, though.

so the end of S2 explains why there is no spore drive in any other Star Trek series.

only 14 eps for season 2?
what ever happened to a 26 eps season?!

and anything think the season finale is like the 5 armies of the Hobbit?
