<< Kirk (Star Trek): Kicks all the aliens' butts, makes a speech about freedom, seduces the hot alien princess, completes the mission. Meanwhile Scotty manages to get an extra 1/10 warp out of the engines at the last second, Spock raises an eyebrow, and McCoy says "Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor, not a taxidermist!". Sometime after the battle, a ceiling fan would fall off the ceiling of the bridge, killing a red-shirted ensign instantly. >>

LOL Optimus, that was brilliant!

I always wondered about one thing. For the very Starfleet cruiser ever, don't you think the crew would be pretty top-notch, militaristic and completely professional. Especially military-trained, did they expect aliens to welcome them with open arms out there? What did we end up with instead?

Rednecks.

At least the British guy is pretty cool. Maybe he'll use the comm officer as a torpedo in an upcoming episode.

StormRider I basically agree with you, but someone has to play devil's advocate right?

> 1) Their characterization of Vulcans is totally wrong. According to Enterprise, Vulcans are not curious which is totally against their portrayal in other series.

As you know, this storyline predates the other series. Perhaps they curiosity you mention was due to their long term interactions with humans.

> 2) They make a big deal that the Enterprise was the first starship using warp technology to explore other worlds and that the Vulcans held us back but later shows revealed that we've had colonies on other planets and space transports using warp technology for at least 1 generation. If true, then what is the big deal about the Enterprise?

The difference was the time. According to the series, their where long haul freight lines which could take 2 years to travel between ports. At warp 5 they could do it in a few days (few weeks?). Think about the early European settlements in the Americas, it could take months to travel back and forth. Now image someone invented the jet airplane around the late 1600's and dropped that travel time to hours. I think that is the point of the warp1 vs warp5 engine stuff, tho the writing doesn't make it very clear (shoot, bad devils advocate, I'm agreeing with you )

> 3) The "soft pr0n" aspect is too transparent and ridiculous. Now, don't get me wrong -- I like seeing T'pol shapely butt being shown off but stop making up ridiculously stupid

Much prefer T'pol in Maxim magazine than on the show

Optimus, that is some of the best comic writing I've read in awhile! You really had me ROTFLMAO!

I tend to agree with most of the comments towards the Enterprise series. However, I don't understand why everyone thought Voyager sucked. If you mean the first season of Voyager sure, but the series as a whole was very good. All Trek series have been good even though they each had their weakness. Most of them had a slow start in the first season but got better as they went along.

Enterprise could get better in future seasons but I think it would take some serious effort on the part of the writers, and then only if the fans really wanted it. Personally, I don't care for this sudden craze of prequals going on with TV shows and movies so they could kill off Enterprise and start a new ST series and I'd be willing to forget the whole thing ever happened.

First of.

I am a trek fan,

But so far Enterprise just S U C K S

Its just seems to me that all they are doing is copying plots from DS9, STV, TNG and modifying them slightly,
Thats okay, but to me, there gettting pretty much predictable.

But it this show continues to the way it going, I would miss it too much. I think the producers should start on the juicy stuff,
like small battle, wars, etc

I like it.

I still remember years ago in college eagerly awaiting the first episode of TNG, Encounter at Farpoint. When I saw it I was like what is this crap? Do you remember Data back then? He was acting like such a pvssy. He had all these emotions and had that terrible smirk.

It took a while to get some momentum but the show ended up being one of my favorites. Even my three sisters watch it to this day (though they won't watch TOS).

I'm sure with some time, Enterprise will gain its own personality.

Wow, I think I'm the only one who doesn't agree. I like the series a lot. I much prefer Enterprise over DS9 or Voyager. Those two series seemed very very boring to me. Of course the original series and TNG were awesome, had great plots and great crappy funny acting.

Enterprise reminds me of the original series a little bit, although after seeing it for a while, not so much anymore. I saw some old TNG episodes a few days ago, after not seeing any TNG for a loooong time. It was pretty good! It was the episode when they fly through some nebula and pick up some sort of sentient lifeform that travels through their computers, and went through a few enterprise crewmen. It looked like some kind of electricity thing zapping them, and then they were in control of the thing. Ideas like this were unique to TNG and the original series... DS9 and Voyager had no original ideas, and all the aliens were generic and boring. They all looked humanoid, the encounters were disgustingly unrealistic. At least in Enterprise it shows them having difficulty communicating with them and trying different/new things. Things like that make it interesting.

I also had a good laugh at Optimus' post though. Great stuff.. good thread!

The thing that dissapoints me about Enterprise was the fact that it was supposed to be a continuing storyline, not one-off episodes. I figured if they made it like ER, with 3-4 plots going on at any given time, have maybe 1 plot end per episode and another begin, that would be incredible. They were hyping the show on the point for a long time, and I'm still waiting for even one episode to go on with a "to be continued" at least. Paramount really dropped the ball there.

I like the show. I liked Voyager. I liked all the Trek series. Liked B5. Like Farscape. I think if people would just sit down and watch the frickin thing instead of trying to analyze how much "intellectual stimulation" it provides then they'd enjoy it more. If you want intellectual stimulation then go to an academic lecture at a local college (you know the after hours ones that are open to the public). Star Trek is just a TV show so treat it as such.

As to the original question: it's not cancelled. It won't be. I can virtually guarantee that Enterprise will be on for exactly 7 years just b/c that's standard run for a Trek series.

Enterpise started out alright, but lately it's been kinda boring. Anyways...

Best Trek Series in order:

1. DS9 (by far)
2. TNG
3. TOS

3435343. VOY/ENT

Actually, Enterprise is better than Voyager. At least in Enterprise, they don't use the same old time travel, bogus anomaly to solve every mystery.

And Optimus, you're wrong about the DS9 crew going and playing baseball while faced with danger. They'd get on the Defiant and blow up whatever it was threatening them.

I agree 100%

<-----------------------Currently up to 4+ gigs of DS9 episodes... Damn they take a lot of space, but I'm trying to get them all for when they're gone completely from p2p networks.

BTW... anyone know where DS9 is still playing? I know they just brought back TNG recently, I'm hoping DS9 will start to be replayed too.

Man I hated DS9....it was always about Quarks bar for like the first few seasons, thats what ruined it for me.
As for Voyager, I missed the first few seasons and picked up the last two. (cable network channel issues)

I feel Enterprise has a very great potential to become one of the best Star Treks....First season's are usually the worst.

Chadder, if you stopped watching DS9 after the first two seasons, you missed A LOT. And besides, Quark was one of the best characters.

And ThaGrandCow, our local UPN channel shows DS9 six nights a week, but I hear that TNN will nationally start re-airing DS9 episodes too, but not until like 2004.

I like Enterprise. It's going to take some time for them to find their spots, but I like the way its going so far. I also thing the actress who is playing t'pol is not attractive. I like the asian girl better. T'pol has fake boobs, and collagen lips so over injected that look like someone socked her and gave her a fat lip. She has a nice body, but the breasts are too fake.

For me, I like TNG the best followed by Enterprise and DS9 tied, TOS and then Voyager.

I used to not like DS9 at all, but my local UPN replays episodes at 4 a.m. every night. I work nights so 4 a.m is when I'm getting to bed. I've really enjoyed all the episodes I've seen so far, at least the later episodes. Some of the early ones sucked and I've turned them off. They also replay Voyager at around midnight or 1 a.m. I've caught a few on my day off, and I don't really enjoy them at all.

Darn, I was hoping you wouldn't say that. UPN here doesn't carry DS9 and I was hoping TNN would pick it up before 2004. Oh well, guess I just have to wait for it then.

DS9 was just... excellent. The characters were so rich and well developed. The mystery of Garak, the friendship of Bashir and O'Brian; so much good stuff. Too bad there will be no movies based on DS9.

I agree, the first season of TNG was terrible! Everything from the cast, sets, and filming itself. Worf didn't do anything except growl, Data and Wesley sat on the dinky reclining seats on the bridge, and counselor troi looked like a cheerleader who's only line was "I feel pain". Things really changed in the second season and by third season, they finally found the right ingredients. We should give Enterprise at least another season before passing judgment.

DS9 and Voyager were crap. They had stupid episodes and stupid characters. Voyager was even worse, it was like Jessie Jackson in Space.

1. TNG
2. TOS.
3. ENT
