<< StormRider I basically agree with you, but someone has to play devil's advocate right?

> 1) Their characterization of Vulcans is totally wrong. According to Enterprise, Vulcans are not curious which is totally against their portrayal in other series.

>>

Actually, you might have something there. On last night's episode, T'Pol was "reintroduced" to the ancient art of the Vulcan Mind Meld. Apparently, Vulcans in this time era didn't practice it.

But I still think it's stupid for Vulcans not to be curious -- you can't be a society that values science and logic without being curious. Curosity is the root of science.

I like Enterprise so far.

At least they haven't totaled 12 shuttles so far like in voyager

<< I always wondered about one thing. For the very Starfleet cruiser ever, don't you think the crew would be pretty top-notch, militaristic and completely professional. Especially military-trained, did they expect aliens to welcome them with open arms out there? What did we end up with instead?

>>

On a related note, remember the episode where Enterprise encountered their first planet? The crew was preparing to send a probe but Capt Archer just wanted to fly a shuttle down there -- he basically said something like, "Haven't you guys ever been spontaneous? Let's just go down there!"

When I saw that, I just groaned. There's no way a crew would act so cavalier when it's their 1st planet. A crew would be extra cautious and send a probe first.

In last night's Enterprise episode, did anyone else think that those emotional Vulcan were perhaps what would become the Romulans?

I don't think they can be the romulans, in the TNG episode Reunification (the one with Spock), I believe Picard says something along the lines of "reunification after all these thousands of years?" I'm not sure about the exact quote however.

Of course, TPTB break continuity all the time, they shouldn't have romulans AT ALL in TOS since it is clearly established that Kirk's enterprise is the first ship to make visual contact with them in the episode Balance of Terror.

AaronP: I know if the followed the timeline they couldn't be, but Enterprise seems to ignore everything established in other series. Like having visual communcations, etc. I think its possible that they may end up becoming the Romulans in this series.

No, the Vulcans and Romulans split looooooooong before humans had space travel.

Well, looks like I'm in the minority around here...

I actually didn't care too much for TNG. DS9 was good when it started, but then it turned into a frikken soap opera in spaaaaace.

I really enjoyed Voyager. It's currently my favorite, but Enterprise is quickly catching up. I just downloaded and watched episodes 12-16. IMO they are excellent! Way better than the beginning episodes, except for "The Andorian Incident", which I thought was very good as well.

Amish, I agree with you completely. But I've been so deterred by some of the other Enterprise episodes with so many irrationalities that I've stopped watching it. For the first 5 or 6 episodes, all they did was eat, talk about food, and explore caves. Everywhere they went, there was a cave. Is their budget that low? Mabye I'll download some more recent episodes and see if they've gotten any better...

wow, didn't know so many people dislike Enterprise. I've watched every episode, not because I am a Trekkie.. but hoping I would catch a glimpse of T'Pol shapely arse and tits. If you're complaining that a TV show isn't intellectually stimulating enough, maybe you should be re-evaluate your life again. If you want intellectual stimulation, read a book not watch the tube.

I'll boldly go with the minority. I like Enterprise, so far, and I hope it stays. It's not as strong as I think it can be, but I thought the early TNG shows were weak and took awhile until they established the characters and plot formats.

Another thing to keep in mind is, the plots are constrained by a lot of what we know is in their "future," but it has to be written as though they don't know this, yet. So far, I think it's worth at least one more season to see if they can make it.
