So.. if Walmart has these for 9.99, why is everyone busting their hump to get to Toys R us.. who definately isn't as prevalent and
widespread as walmart locations.

Can anyone verify the 9.99 price for walmart is nationwide? anybody tried to buy this elsewhere for 9.99? BB/CC/compusa? etc

Here's the poop from the Louisville, KY TRU:

It's $9.99, regardless of media/version. HOWEVER, they ONLY have the FULL SCREEN version available.

Apparently, when they sold pre-order, they used the SKU for the Widescreen version only. Thus, when the product arrived they put all the Widescreen copies in a holding bin. As the sale is through Saturday, I'm going to Best Buy Friday to pick up LOTR Extended, and have 'm PM TRU.

My Walmart has them for 13.58 or some oddball price like that. They wouldn't pricematch Toys R Us either! :|

LMFAO. Its piss-pouring rain here in DC...the last thing I'm gonna do is drive more than I have to and then wait in line for a savings of what??? $5 bucks???

Scored my widescreen DVD at the Williston, VT TRU at 9:30 this morning. No lines, no waiting -- this is VT, after all--low geek count, high redneck count. If this had been a NASCAR DVD, there would have been line stretching clear across town, and a parking lot full of pickups with "pissing Calvin" decals on the back window.

Thanks for the heads-up on this deal !

Thankfully my town is like that too!

EDIT: Now if only TRU would open...

I went to CompUSA at 9 AM and got them to match TRU. Since CompUSA's ad
just said "Lowest Price. Period" I figured they would do the match, and since
CUSA opened 30 minutes before TRU, there was no chance for them to say
it was not available at TRU. Got the Widescreen copy for $9.99 and was out
the door by 9:05. Thanks to all for the headsup on this deal.

I just scored the Widescreen version from TRU in Melbourne, FL. Price was $9.99 and they had plenty left when I left there. There was a girl handing out the little slips at the door.

AbusiveCow,
Lucas lost his connection with that Jar-Jar movie big time. He at least climbed out of the dumpster with Attack of the Clones although I must disagree with him over the name being somehow retro clever and a good idea. The movie still didn't come close to touching the depth of the original trilogy and at best is a great blockbuster extravaganza. Not however a classic.

As far as Trekies goes, I dislike that Science fiction which has a vast depth and bredth is automatically brings Star Trek connotations although it's hardly a top example of the genre. Star Wars original trilogy was at least a saving grace from it.
I agree, however, I have a problem with the second paragraph.
I didn't understand it. The first paragraph was so compelling that I was forced to agree with the whole.
IMHO
Episodes 4, 5 & 6 were on the order of Forbidden Planet, The Day Time Stood Still & few others.
Episodes 1 & 2 were just below War of the Worlds (the movie, not the book or the famous radio broadcast) & others, too numerous to mention.

If there is, I'm going back to Walmart! An hour or two of my time is worth more than $4!

I bought one at Toys R US, they only had the full screen. I wanted the widescreen but i'll just exchange it when they get their shipment this thursday.

As for the walmart price, has anyone actually bought it from them at $9.99 and how many can you get ? The ad says limit 1 per guest. Would CC let you PM more than 1 ?

Thanks

pick up dvd widescreen, say "i 'd like 110% pricematch"

in and out in five minutes.... they didn't even call toysrus.

hmmm is 9.49 a 110% price match from 9.99???

Pepsei,
If your $9.49 price is including tax, I would say yes to the 110% pricematch.

I went to a local TRU here in Omaha at 9:30 this AM and there was no crowd or problem at all. It was peculiar though that the display showed $19.99 as the price, but they were selling for $9.99. Why not advertise your great price?!! Very happy with the deal

I just picked it up good price, I would definitely reccomend buying it at this price considering that just renting it would cost you 3 or 4 bucks.

Just picked up my WIDESCREEN DVD from Walmart. It was marked $19.94 but they pricematched it for $9.99.

I live in Phoenix, Arizona. I think they said they are going to update their price to $9.99.

Thanks for the tip Bentwookie! That movie rules!
