YAY! Got my widescreen copy at the Chattanooga TN location this afternoon

There was no circular in Sunday's paper, which may account for why quite a few copies were still available this afternoon when I got to Chattanooga (around 1pm). The circulars in the store DID however clearly state in small print "Limit one dvd or vhs per guest, no rainchecks" and so on. Heh, 3 of us science fiction nerd bachelors in a row at the checkout line, and the guy behind me was so excited he was about to buy the full screen version until I asked him what version he was getting.

To heck with the critics. I've loved this and every Star Wars yet, and I'm thrilled to get the great deal on this movie that I otherwise would've passed on until prices went down

I got two widescreen copies when TRU opened this morning and PMed a third copy at Best Buy.

I gave two copies to friends and kept the one from BB with the calendar.

well i just got back from a very disappointing trip to BB...

i walked in with the toys'r'us ad and they wouldn't price match...

they said that they called earlier and the toyrus was out of stock.... so then i said to call walmart.. they asked me for the number... i didn't have it they said they wouldn't call....

so then i asked to speak to a manager.... i told the manager that i wanted them to call more toyrus stores and call some walmarts... he said he wasn't going to "pay" his staff to make phone calls for me...

i then asked for his full name and employee ID number and the name of his superior.... at that point the manager said "fine, well give you the match" but he "in the future the item has to be in stock." and i said well it is in stock somewhere and being sold for 9.99.... so go find the walmart with it in stock...

he gave me a dirty look and i said "you and i both know that somewhere in the US there is a walmart that still has stock of this for 9.99 so pm them."

well in the end i bought 4 for 9.99 each and have about 5 BB employess very very pissed at me....

word of advice dont try and PM at BB unless you have phones numbers of many places and know that it is stock somewhere....

I think it's a great thing that you did that. The policy states that they will price match if you have the ad. Those lazy asses should do the work since they're getting paid for it....I would call their superior anyways. It seems like they really need to know about the horrible attitude of their workers, but they probably don't care either.

As for me, I went to the BB in San Jose off Almaden around 4 pm today. They had plenty widescreen versions in stock. Picked up two of em, walked towards the checkout. Scoped out which cashier I would go to and picked the young female because she looked like she would be nice. Walked up to her and said "hi" and then pulled out the ad and asked her about he...she didn't even hesitate because seems like she already price matched hundreds earlier today probably. She even asked me if I wanted 2 calendars, in which I replied "sure!". It pays to be nice to the cashiers and also pays to be selective in who you pricematch with...

An interesting note: After paying for it, she jokingly said "don't tell everyone about ToysRUs!" I sarcastically said "tell them about what?" She thinks that BB is losing money over this but she is totally wrong. If I were to have bought it for $9.99 at TRU, they would have my $9.99 and that would be the end of it. But since BB gave me the DVD for slightly less, they now have my money and I am pretty much not going to go out to another store and buy another copy, so the one that lost out is TRU, not BB. She didn't realize that they still made a profit from the actual cost...anyways...

One last thing. Why are we all rushing out to buy this freakin DVD? I mean, why waste this money when everyone and their moms is going to buy this movie. We can just watch it at their house!

Got 2 PM'd at BB...first hassle-free experience with BB CS reps ever I think. Probably helped it was 5 mins. from closing and the guy in front of me was blowing a casket over not being able to return a computer or something.

I guess I waited too long (gee, you'd think that 7 hours wouldn't make a difference with this movie, even at that price). I went to BB right away, but they said that TRU (right across the street) was OOS, and wouldn't do it. I think I'll wait until Saturday, then try again. This is Northgate, Seattle, WA.

Just got home from Fry's in Palo Alto for those in Northern Cal. It's $9.99 at Frys without having to go through the trouble of pricematching.

I went to my local Toys R Us and all they had left was the Fullscreen version. So I grabbed an ad and went to Best Buy. They refused to do a pricematch because they only pricematch if store being pricematched has the item in stock. Because TRU had no Widescreen in stock, BB refused to do the pricematch, even though the Widescreen was the version pictured in the ad. I didn't tell them that TRU was out of stock (I'm not that dumb ) but it was obvious many people had already tried the pricematch. I didn't try anywhere else. I just decided just to get it at BB since I was already getting the LotR:FotR Special Edition and South Park Season 1 there.

"lets keep the roger ebert comments out of the thread " - I cannot resist.......

I just rented this film and I'm glad I did not waste another $5 by purchasing it!

This was the worst of all the Star Wars flicks by far! The stupid romance subplot was idiotic - I'm sure just to lure a few more teenage viewers. Anakin tells the princess he just massacred a bunch of women and children and he still gets a second chance!! I'm actually pissed off that I wasted $5 on the rental. The acting was hopeless and the plot stunk. @#$#$#$^!

In answer to the earlier question - "Why do you even bother going to ToysRUs?"

I think pricematching is a bunch of crap. I don't know of a single company that does honest, no-hassle pricematching. And what is it, anyway? It's saying "I want to sell this to you for the most I can get, but if you find it cheaper somewhere else, I'll give you their price." That's lazy marketing.

If ToysRUs is smart enough to charge a price that entices customers, I want THEM to get my money, not Best Buy and their bull**** hassle pricematching.

Anyway, that's my take on it.

You mean Northgate Mall? I believe there's several other mall's in the area with TRU. Downtown (Westgate maybe), Bellvue, Southcenter, Seatac, Tacoma Mall, Alderwood, then there's that wannabe Super Mall. The furthest one not even an hour away. Why you ask, do I bring this up?

Answer: The closest TRU or BB to me is at best, 2.5 hours away! :Q So here's my story....

I figured it was a long shot but what the hell. Being that there is only a Wally's in town that only pricematches within a 60 mile radius(Staples, OM, Target are only 1 hr.), I had to get in on this deal. So I called TRU in another town (~2.5hrs away) and asked if they had SW AOTC. The girl said they had it and was $9.99. I asked if they could hold it or was there anyway to purchase it over the phone {desperate beads of sweat filled my forehead....}. Her first response was that they could hold it for 24 hours only. Then a manager corrected her and she said they couldn't hold it because it was a ~*special*~ sale item or some bs. I thanked the girl and hung up.

>>>>THE END<<<

JK....So I called BB and talked to Sonia. She said they had SW AOTC and LOTR and they pricematch and she could hold them until I wanted to pick them up! I said I couldn't pick them up until the weekend and she said that was cool, took down my name and numbers (yes, numbers, plural ). Btw, I am meeting a relative who happens to be visiting a friend of the family in the town just before this one. Perfect excuse....not that I need one.

Oh, almost forgot, this is a HOT deal, thanks!

there was more to that scene where padme's feelings about the whole massacre thing are reconciled (ie, she tries to console anakin, and understands that someone could be so angry to do something like that), but lucas cut it. you can find it if u can find the original script, or read the novel

and the acting was poor in several places throughout the movie, but the only way you could think the plot was poor is if you didnt understand it, which i have found many people did not. you could blame that on poor exposition on the part of lucas, or you could blame it on dumb people. its probably both. but the plot is very good
