well not to seem like a jerk but the term local does not seem very specific.....

Umm...yup I'm sure it is easy to understand why someone would massacre woman and children - I wonder why Lucas left that out! The movie was just awful but if you enjoyed it good for you.

I did get a kick out of the Yoda fight scene.

Not to mention shipping too. There are suckers born every minute

The TRU I went to (Richardson, TX off 75 & Parker) only had Full Screen edition, not an issue with me since I only have a regular tv

I was there after work at 7pm. All gone No dvds left and they stuck up a sign "Out of dvd, no raincheck, donot pass go, donot collect $200". Just a whole bunch of these vhs thingies which i don't know what they're used for??? Grabbed a flyer and headed to Kmart to pm but they had none either. It's a bad day...better luck tomorrow. Wallyworld here i come!

so then i asked to speak to a manager.... i told the manager that i wanted them to call more toyrus stores and call some walmarts... he said he wasn't going to "pay" his staff to make phone calls for me...

i then asked for his full name and employee ID number and the name of his superior.... at that point the manager said "fine, well give you the match" but he "in the future the item has to be in stock." and i said well it is in stock somewhere and being sold for 9.99.... so go find the walmart with it in stock...

he gave me a dirty look and i said "you and i both know that somewhere in the US there is a walmart that still has stock of this for 9.99 so pm them."

well in the end i bought 4 for 9.99 each and have about 5 BB employess very very pissed at me....

word of advice dont try and PM at BB unless you have phones numbers of many places and know that it is stock somewhere....

i work at CC, we stopped offically PMing TRU after 11, but most of the us just PM anyway, like you said, somewhere someone still has it for 9.99 and in stock. then we got introuble, and had to call up places. We have the #'s right there, none of that "u call them" bullsh*t BB gave you. i was still PMing AOTC a couple of hours before we closed( called a walmart with plenty in stock). be careful though, i called 1 walmart(they were out and it was $14.99), had to call a 2nd one for the 9.99 price. maybe im biased cuz i work at CC, but i think generally BB has crappy customer service...

Thanks for the details on the scores. Thanks to DVDTALK.

I picked up three copies of AOTC from Circuit City. The standard register clerks would not pricematch because they knew the closest Toys R Us was out of stock. I went up to the CSR counter and told the rep that there were 6-10 other Toys R Us locations in Chicago and one of them was bound to have stock. I brought the flyer with me, but it had not telephone numbers on it for other Toys R Us locations. She just took my word for it.

Best Buy was more difficult. I was not able to do the pricematch. The Manager made the excuse that he didn't have time to call all the Toys R Us stores and that he didn't even have the phone numbers. I asked him if it was my duty as a customer to enforce his company's policy, but I was getting nowhere fast. He was just making up excuses to stall. Frustrated, I just told him that Best Buy isn't a place I will be buying any Christmas gifts from. There loss.

I did this at Target last night. Target will not pricematch anymore PERIOD----on anything! Can you beleive that? I told the manager in front of everybody "Well, if you're prices are higher than other places, and you can't compete, why should anyone shop here at all? I'm going to go to KMart." Man was THAT guy ticked....he asked me to keep my voice down, and I said "Why?...It's the truth!" then left my cart there and left. BTW- I had 5 things I wanted to pricematch with Kmart, not just the video. What a stupid policy.

If a store has a pricematch policy, they should honor it no questions asked. If they want to hassle you about every pricematch, why have a pricematch policy at all. Ever see the commercials advertising their low price guarantees? They make it look so easy, yet most of the time you are trying to scale a wall with your teeth.

In the commercials when BB has their smiling cashiers doing no-hassle PM's, they don't show them calling the stores.

Maybe they need to make a commercial where they give the customer the 3rd degree, and the customer leaves to go to the competitor.... Actually Circuit City should make that commercial, showing people not able to do PM at BB, and then walking across the street to CC, and getting it no problem..

There was no circular in Sunday's paper, which may account for why quite a few copies were still available this afternoon when I got to Chattanooga (around 1pm). The circulars in the store DID however clearly state in small print "Limit one dvd or vhs per guest, no rainchecks" and so on. Heh, 3 of us science fiction nerd bachelors in a row at the checkout line, and the guy behind me was so excited he was about to buy the full screen version until I asked him what version he was getting.

To heck with the critics. I've loved this and every Star Wars yet, and I'm thrilled to get the great deal on this movie that I otherwise would've passed on until prices went down
OK, I got my WS SW II, and yesterday I also picked up SW I WS at CC for 14.99 (had to convince the guy that it was on sale. He said he was positive it wasn't and wanted to charge me 24.99). So now (when I get 4, 5 and 6, coming in the mail) I'll have all versions. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there are 5 versions of SW to date. So here's my question:

I haven't seen any SW movie for... hmm, 20 years or so, and I'm not even sure I saw ROTJ. So, it's virtually as though I've never seen any at this point. What order should I watch the movies in, or does it matter? Should I watch
4 --> 5 --> 6 --> 1 --> 2 or

1 --> 2 --> 3 --> 4 --> 5 ??

Thanks!

and the acting was poor in several places throughout the movie, but the only way you could think the plot was poor is if you didnt understand it, which i have found many people did not. you could blame that on poor exposition on the part of lucas, or you could blame it on dumb people. its probably both. but the plot is very good

~Zippy!

Yep, I agree, the movie is much better than I originally thought after watching it in theaters. The plot is definitely deeper and more cerebral than my original impression. I think much of the problem was Lucas' reliance on subtle plot hints lost in (sometimes) poor acting and in "clever" script writing that just didn't fit well into a scene or were just grossly overshadowed by the action on-screen. My advice is to watch the movie with the subtitles, as the on-screen noise and eye-candy, along with sometimes poor acting can muddle important plot details (raucous theater environments didn't help the first time around).

I guess Lucas was trying to keep it simple for the kiddies, but I really wish there was a "non-CGI" version that was a bit more verbose with less cut-scene crap. I really hated the whole love story twist (probably b/c of the bad acting and robotic interactions between the couple) when I saw it the first time, but now I find it utterly compelling. Its a helluva lot deeper than puppy love, and goes great distances in laying groundwork for episodes 3-6, as well as explaining Anakin's moral conflict and his growing animosity towards the Jedi (and the off-setting fascination with Palpatine and the dark side).

Between Anakin's relationship with Padme and his "galactic" inner-conflict regarding his place in the universe, I just kept wondering to myself how good this movie would have been if there were better acting . I guess I was thinking too much Last of the Mohicans and was just left a bit disappointed. As to the person who wondered how he could slaughter women and children; its just the culmination of his moral conflict of right vs wrong. You can just see the horns sprouting from his head half the movie, and his "animal" comments clearly stated, albeit rather simply, his evolved views of the world around him. So many allusions and foreshadowing events and dialogue.....I didn't pick it all up in the theater, but much clearer now.

Moral of story: I would have bought this movie for full price, but $9.99 is a no-brainer

So F'ing true!!!!!!!! I tried at KMart w/. Lord of The Rings 4 DVD last night... said I had to go the service desk to do it (could not do it in Electronics - even though I had the adds). Best Buy - would not price match TRU or Target - said they are not in the same business (electronics).... Wal-Mart will not PM Target until they call and hang on the phone for 15 minutes to verify that the add price they have is indeed correct... and then they make the Target employee go check the inventory... and then they tell you that it is a different product and that Target can't have a lower price - WalMart always has the lowest price... ha ha...

Got mine for $9.96 this morning at Walmart. They already had pricematched it to that price in their computer system.

Got mine PM'ed at Walmart last night with a photocopy of the TRU ad. They guy said no problem. I asked if he needed the ad and he said that he'd keep it to help other people out and he left it on the counter. They had plenty of WS and FS, too!

Thanks,
Jeff

I got mine PM'd at Best Buy in Lynnwood Washington, no hassles. My buddy went to CC across the street and they would only PM the Full Screen version. And I was on the can when he called me, so I couldn't tell him to go to BB. He didn't really care, he's watching it on a 56" widescreen TV anyway, and his Mother-In-Law (he and his wife live downstairs) will buy it in WS and he's just bust a switcharoo.

At any rate, CC is now on my shyt list...

Went to TRU and they were completely out of stock. Went across the street to Best Buy with the TRU ad and they PMed without even calling or careing. Got the Calendar too, all for 10.49 out the door.

I went to 2 TRU's..both out...so went to BB..took it to the guy in the TV department for PM. Figured he wouldn't have a problem doing it since I spent $2500 two days ago on 2 TV's (new baby..55" Widescreen Philps for $1890 after PM and pref customer coupon!)...He did it no problem!

I went to Walmart yesterday and the price was scanning as $14.77.

Then I headed over to TRU and they had plenty of fullscreens with no mention of $9.99 anywhere. They had a copy of the ad on a board, but I did not see StarWars on there and I did not see any ads anywhere in the store.

Then I went to Best Buy fully expecting to pay $15. To my surprise they had a big sign up as soon as you walk in that said DVD $9.99/ VHS $14.99. So I didn't have to pricematch, but they did have to manually change the price since it still rung up as $15.99. I didn't even have to remind them to change the price. The cashier did it on his own. That may have only been for one day though since they just take down the sign and it already is ringing up at $15.99.

So the Walmart was not automatically giving it to you for $9.99. TRU seemed to be hiding the fact that it was $9.99 and they only had fullscreen. Surprisingly Best Buy was actually the best place to go this time as there were no hassles and plenty of widescreens.

I work at CC, too. What store are you working at? (I'm a manager, ). We were pricematching all day both FS and WS, no question asked, and we even do it for more than 1 DVDS (TRU limits one DVD per customer). Depend on the store manager, the store's associates' attitudes may differ a lot. Some store managers are jerks! And CC is trying to get all the store managers in the right direction, it will take time, however.

If you just think about it for another minute, you will understand. There are a lot of companies out there that are practicing unethical business behaviors, they will adversite items as low as they want, but they either do not have those in stocks, or have about 5-10 items in their main warehouse. With that situation, they can also lower the price as often as they want (we won't lose any money because we did not have anything in stock to sell). That's why it's very important to understand that the competitor needs to have them in stock if you want to pricematch. In this particular case, we honor it no question (in my store) because TRU is not one of those unethical companies. and again, there are still a lot of CC store managers that don't understand anything about Customer Service. If you want to keep CC in business, feel free to call the Cool Line number (you can see it at every CC's front desk) and complain about it, CC will appreciate it.
Some posts up there were right, CC is using red and gray and black colors. Those colors suck. They look so dark and sad. BB stores are a lot brighter. Maybe we need a retailer with CC Customer service and BB stores' presentation.
