I'm playing the trial...it's good! Has the same KOTOR feel to it, only MMO.

The funny thing is that many people on here would be perfectly willing to pay $60 for a KOTOR 3, but with the free trial coming up, lots of KOTOR fans will probably just play the free trial and get through the story by themselves.

TOR doesn't even hold a candle to Knights of the Old Republic, let alone what could have been (a 3rd game).

I might try it when it goes Free2play.

However I saw gameplay videos, and trailers and thought "this game is gonna flop".
Sometime lateron.... I heard game flopped and I was like "knew that would happend".

why?

UI interface, animations, quest system, the combat.... even the "world" and the characters graphics looks kinda meh.

It just doesnt look that well done, for a game that cost a fortune to make.
I guess they spent it all on "voice actors" and sound effects or something.

Then there was the huge unblance of classe and one of the factions had a bug that made them lose out in pvp ect...
Stuff like that isnt good for a game, esp when they dont respond quickly to fix stuff.

***edit:
Im very critical of a game that cant get a proper looking UI out, for a game.
Same when it comes to animations and how they work.

I thought the same thing.

But then if you actually play it, it's not so bad. Just focus on the story.

It's absolutely wonderful...

for a single player game...

until you realize you have to pay a subscription...

until realize you could have waited 7 months and $130 later...

Then you feel like a used condom inside a two-bit hooker.

I played some of the jedi knight starting quest and I found it enjoyable. The music and characters were as good as the KOTOR I remember playing back in 2004/2005.

People can "soon" play this to max level before dropping it like a brick, because endgame/pvp sucks.
Bound to be a huge success for EA.... lmao...
I just hope they learn from this experiance, if they decide to make a new MMORPG.

that said.... even with F2P, there is competition.
RaiderZ, Planetside 2, Firefall, Guildwars2, Mechwarrior Online,Dragon nest, list goes on and on.

TOR plays like a single player RPG with a persistant multiplayer component, except that it does neither very well. I understand what they were trying to do, but in the process I think they forgot why people play MMOs. Content has to be designed in such a way that it can be consumed in very large quantities over and over again. This is why people can have 30 Wow characters and still have fun. You watch a minute or two of cutscene and you get dumped into gameplay. The rest is all you.

Once you've played through the starter areas in TOR, it can be extremely tedious if you want to play multiple characters because everything is so choreographed. TOR still has alot of potential, but they need to losen the reigns a bit and start getting some content out there while at the same time stop getting bogged down in the little things.

They should have just made it like $60 and then no monthly sub fee.

So it would be like a "free" MMO.

The Jedi Knight story line gets wildly epic around level 40. I strongly recommend that anyone who hasn't levelled up a Jedi Knight to try it because the story line is really, really awesome.

IMO the problem comes with "instancing" and also making companion characters powerful enough that you can solo everything.

Does anyone remember Asheron's Call? That was a game that made player interaction cool.

I still remember hanging out at venders hoping to find a piece of "trash gear" that a high level player sold to the vender. No "soul bound" armor either.

It honestly feels like the ugly child of the KOTOR game and the MMO genre. There are ties of elements from both, but it executes fails to execute well in either.

I didn't even get to the max level on one character before I felt dreadfully bored.

This I"m going to guess is because...

1. you don't get the player interaction of an MMO. Like, I heard that you can't "sit" like in other MMO's. I wonder if there's even a "dance" animation like in WOW.

2. MMO elements of endless enemies makes SP play tedious.

With the greatest of respect, you liked DA2. And DS3.

So not really seeing your endorsement as being the vote that rings true.

I've actually never played DS3.

OK. Must have been the other Karmypolitics that argued with me that it was a decent game. My mistake.

In any event, thanks for the rousing endorsement of TOR. I actually just wanted readers to have context about your tastes.

They only part of the game worth playing is the single player story, and thats going to be completely free.

Yet the half-assed MMO aspects are the ones that require a subscription.

Yeah karmy is known for trolling with his 'opinions':

DA2 > DA:O

ME2 > ME1

Mass Effect and DA:O are overrated

Bioware RPG's are the finest combat experiences

RPG Fans: What is the point of inventory?

Ocarina of Time is overrated cause Windwaker is better

Best gaming was xbox/ps2/gamecube era (he was probably a kid at this time)

Mists of Pandaria looks like the best WOW Expansion yet

Warcraft 3 is under appreciated compared to SC2, and DOTA is incredibly stupid
