Agreed. It's not bad, but it feels like the show always falls just a bit short of what it could be.Another alright episode. Though I'm firmly under the opinion that this season is not going to live up to 2. Thrawn is an awesome character, but he is either being underutilized or not allowed to "win" enough. Nothing this season was as thrilling or as cool as Vader allowing a few rebels to escape so he could be lead to the primary rebel fleet that he easily went on to eviscerate from the seat of a snub fighter. And the maul vs OB1 confrontation is interesting, but this has played out twice already. I highly doubt it can compare to the epicness of Ahsoka facing off against her fallen master. Everything this season just feels a bit watered down.
I never really liked the characters. The big cat guy isn't that interesting, and neither are the two females.
I think it is inferior to the Clone Wars so far. The Clone Wars made a good attempt at fixing the prequels, and it polished them about as well as could be managed. This one...like the unreality of it works against it, because the originals are more serious movies and are more like real life, and so some of the ridiculous parts of this one don't make much sense and don't fit in well.
At this point, I'm just skipping anything to do with mercenaries or smugglers. Anything that is non-jedi I skip. They are never in any real danger. They go through all these battles without ever getting hurt by these guns and swords. It's just silly.
The only possible saving grace is that I think, I hope that Ezra ends up being Snoke.
You know one of the main characters in Rebels was permanently blinded in a lightsaber fight?
lol.. saw guierra
guess they wanted to boost ratings by tying in Rogue One
To be fair, Saw was a Clone Wars character who was then brought into Rogue One. So while I agree it was a bit of a ratings stunt, it's not quite as much a stretch as it first appears.lol.. saw guierra

Considering that they picked up a shield generator for Chopper Base last episode, I suspect Thrawn is finally going to get his victory soon enough. Given the foreshadowing, I don't think Chopper Base is long for this world. But I do agree that for half-way through the season, Thrawn has been all talk and no action.Something I liked about SatAM Sonic the hedgehog when I was little was there were episodes where it felt like the bad guy won. I mean just the battle, not the war. But there were definitely setbacks to the good guys. In Rebels however thrawn doesn't seem to be able to get a decisive win against the rebels. It's too bad.
Unless they go crazy with the storyline of thrawn from the book series this will not happen.I just hope Thrawn is planning something big. But you know at the end of the season he's going to get killed off. Probably some suicide mission by Kallus
Silly flic for teen chicks - all about fem empowerment etc.
Will not watch again. BAD MOVIE CONCEPT.
Eh, I wouldn't be quite that harsh. Narrowing down the list of planets the rebels is on may not be as much as Thrawn was hoping for, but it is a win for him in the long run.Thrawn: The rebels have won this time Callous, but next time... NEXT time!
ugh. What a waste of a season.
good episode but you can see the ending from a mile away once she's consumed by anger/guilt.This series gets a lot of criticism thrown at it, and for good reason. But I think tonight's episode (Trials of the Darksaber) is proof that the show can be good - and possibly even reach the high points of The Clone Wars - when the writers have something bigger to work with.
In fact I think Rebels' minimalism does it a favor here, as the limited voice talent and scenes in this episode means the focus must be on the characters and the plot, and not on the action. Which means not only is Sabine finally getting the focus episode the character deserves, but it's easily among the best episodes of the series. It's the kind of episode where on the surface little of importance has happened (it's a training episode), and yet having Sabine work through her fears and Kanan try to connect with her as a teacher can easily carry the whole show just because it's that damn captivating.
And I see they didn't forget about Bendu.
