The temple guard looks like the grand inquisitor.

Pretty sure it was, Brother 5 mentioned it. I guess he was a Jedi before turning dark. It seems there was a lot of hinting at turning dark this episode, The Grand Inquisitor, the Clone Wars Jedi, Ezra, and even Kanan picking up the red lightsaber while angered at the Guardian.

Pretty good episode that sets up the last few for the season, though Im confused as to what exactly happened to the Inquisitors. They were surrounded by Guardians and getting sliced up but were OK in the end, was that all just a vision from the temple?

It was visions of sorts of some kind of jedi training.

Think of in star wars with vader inside the cave.

Wow, what a great episode. The most interesting thing to me was the Grand Inquisitor
showing up as a good force ghost.
I was amazed at that. I wonder if they're setting this up so that Vader can come back as a force ghost for when they do the sequel to episode six.

Vader already came back as a light side force ghost at the end of ep 6, as Anakin. im not sure what Grand Inquisitor did to turn himself good, maybe he taught jarrus something about using the force?

I figured GI was a temple guard. What intrigued me most about this episode is Malachor 5. Yet another reference to Revan and the Old Republic...

Any particular reason why Ashoka cant open the temple because she's not a jedi but the Inquisitors can?

I'm guessing she could if she REALLY wanted to. But she doesn't consider herself a Jedi any longer and opening the Jedi temple would probably feel as though she had not yet truly let go of the order that threw her to the dogs. Inquisitors in contrast have no such consideration. They see nothing but the prize in front of them and resort to any means to get it.

Finally got to watching it. damn that was good.

The GI as a trainer? great. I hope they don't turn kanan to the dark side. but that was a pretty strong indicator of that. ashoka seeing yoda at the end was a nice touch.

Sister 7- "Such a handsome face"
Kanan- "I dont go for crazy"

I just picked up on the fact that the characters voice actors are married in real life (Freddy Prinze Jr and Sarah Michelle Geller).

Yeah, that line was specifically written for the VAs, to say the least.

For some reason I'm tickled pink that heavy metal music exists in Star Wars. In-universe music doesn't come up much, so it's such a significant (and welcome) change from cantina-style music.

Was that metal? We only heard a couple bars but I pegged it as 80's rock.

That was a pretty good episode. Don't they have life sign scanners in the SW universe? I can't remember.

They had life scanners a couple of episodes when they scanned Geonosis and found it empty. Of course, they never scanned the orbital platform before the boarded it and completely missed the trap, derp. This episode wasnt bad, it served its purpose in setting up the finale. I get the feeling that Hera is to A-wing Pilots what Captain Kirk is to red shirt ensigns.

Anyhoo, Im wondering if theyll tie up some loose strings in the finale, namely whats going with Kallus and what happened to the super B-wings that should be laying waste to the empire by now. As for the main plot, Im think they all go to Malachor, where Ezra finds the crossguard lightsaber and gets corrupted by Darth Maul. All signs point towards Ahsoka getting killed off but technically its only the Jedi who were destroyed and she's not a Jedi, so maybe she can survive for a bit.

I would call that metal (Heavy Metal 2000 comes to mind at the end of that scene), but 80s rock works as well. Point being that it was something besides cantina or orchestral music.

So I'm not the only one who has noticed this. For possessing superior ships with shields, it feels like Hera is losing A-wing pilots about as quickly as they're killing TIE pilots.

I expect Kallus will be a season 3 thread. As for Ashoka, she's a light-side force user. I'm fully expecting her to bite it, along with Ezra and Kanan in time. The Clone Wars sort of danced around this issue by being set before Episode 3, but with Rebels set immediately before Episode 4, all of those force users have to die.

Kind of a stupid episode.

Alien animals that small that are impervious to ship guns and they couldn't force lift the damn sensor near the ship.

Technically Jarrus is the only Jedi so he probably needs to die off at some point. The others can be like Maz Kanata, random force users hiding from the empire. An easy way out would be to have them hanging out with Bail Organa on Alderraan which is soon to be blown up.

Seriously, in episode 1 Droidekas were getting blown away by a Naboo starfighter and now the Ghost cant even shoot up some random spider.

This season is about the 5 apprentices. Season finale is called Twilight of the apprentice.

Kanan - Started off as Apprentice but now the "twilight" of his apprenticeship has passed. He's a Jedi now.

Ezra - Apprentice of Kanan. Season finale might be his deciding what sort of apprentice he is going to be. Of the Dark side or light side. Probably doing the "Anakin story" without the burden of George Lucas influence or iconic Vader character.

Vader - King apprentice under the emperor of the dark side. His twilight will occur in Return of the Jedi went he becomes a pork roast.

Maul - Former apprentice of the emperor. The Episode title may mean that the big death will be the death of Maul at the hand of Vader. Twilight of Maul. we will get to see what happens to him and then see him die at the hands of his successor.

Ahsoka - Former apprentice of the Vader. To kill her as well as Maul would bring closure to the Clone Wars series and allow Disney to have a clean story line that leads to their take on the franchise. However, she is now a top tier character that offers a lot of potential to the story. I think it would be a mistake to kill her. Based on what this season has been about, I think the way it should be done is to bring closure to her relationship with Anakin\Vader. Where Twilight of the Apprentice" for her character is that Anakin is gone, replaced by Vader. so the battle between them is not so much a battle to the death, but her confronting him and the both of them accepting that neither of them is the person they once knew. That would allow them to develop a storyline where Vader has an actual role vs chasing to noob Jedi's around. Ahsoka would be the one character that offers Vader challenge.
Otherwise he lacks purpose in Rebels.
